Northern wind take my song up high
To the hall of glory in the sky
So it's gates shall greet me open wide
When my time has come to die

Thank God. I mean, ok he might have the looks that fit Light, but the man could never pull off the evil look that Light makes and the evil grin. Lol, just picture him trying.

DN won't be good with american/british actors.. Fail..

WB should just stick to there normal books/novels liike harry potter.

*says hi to the "kiddified" Kira and L*
x

Actually, it would work with Caucasian actors. Whoever said L was Japanese?

Touche^_^
But will WB hoenstly hire a Caucasian actor? They're just gona go for the most famous actors. Hollywood probaly thinks the more famous the actors the better, WRONG.....

For those citing DBE as a warning against live action anime movies . . . that movie doesn't count. Why? Because, for one, Dragonball is a highly cartoony action/comedy series with crazy hair and bright colors, etc. It's extremely difficult to adapt that into live action, as opposed to something like Death Note, which is set in the present day, in a large, completely normal, boring, and realistic city. So comparing the two, adaptation-wise, is kind of stupid.

Also, DBE (which had a crappy script, wooden acting, and barely recognizable characters) was made by 20th Century Fox, which notoriously sucks and ruins every franchise it gets its horrible little hands on. On the other hand, Death Note is being made by the WB, which is an awesome company and is pretty damn good at adaptations. Death Note is definitely in good hands.

PLUS, you forget, DBE wasn't a flop. It was made for 40-some-odd million, and earned back about 54 million. A mild success, as far as Fox is concerned.

So no comparison, guys. :)

Really, the only thing I worry about when it comes to a Hollywood version of Death Note is the fact that it was originally shopped around by Vertigo Entertainment, whose claim to fame is adapting Japanese horror movies for U.S. audiences (The Grudge 2, Dark Water, etc.) -- all of which majorly sucked. So here's hoping Death Note doesn't go that route, or get re-made into a cliche horror film. =/

I really do not get why people are so annoyed over this.

Zac efron looks like Light, he could actually be good for the role.
The Japanese version wasn't even all that amazing. In America they can get the characters how they should be. If they are only doing the first three volumes they pretty much have to do a second film at least.

Misa should have blonde hair and L should be white, like really pale seeing as he is rarely outside and he also lived in an orphanage in England. I don't remember how they did Light but I know it was messed up.

Although depending on who they decide to market this to, if Mello is in it, I am very sure they will make him a girl and his real name 'Michelle', 'Michaela' or something just as awful.

Whether they mess it up or not I'm going to waste my money on the DVD of it.

Ah yes, WB. The guys who allowed Batman & Robin to get made, and the same guys who want to do a sequel to Watchmen. :/

Only the first 3 volumes..?

What about the remaining 10 volumes? Are they planning to release a few Death Note films? Otherwise, it will most likely be incomplete.

lol@people expecting a faithful adaptation.

It will be a movie about psychopath teenager and we all will be happy if the Death note or Ryuuk is even included. :)
