Evangelion seems to be paying more attention to it characters, doesn't surprise me after watching Top wo Nerae. She said, "Don't make others suffer for your personal hatred."

I will continue to watch it though. I wonder if there's a deeper connection between Shinji's father and Rei. She's obviously very fond of him.
