Yeah, I think Bakayaro has it right - it's probably a nationalist/racist thing. If Takamura had said those exact same lines, no one would have batted an eyelash. |

Takamura actually mad...now there's something new. I liked how they made Takamura weak this time, so that next time we can actually see the difference in a half-@ssed fighter and the true Mr."Ore-sama no punchi wa dainamaitou" (at least I think that's what the makers were getting at and what I also hope to see). Can't really argue with Ippo, I do enjoy every episode so...no bad things from me. - Lith. |

Bakayaro said: ParaParaJMo said: but in some weird ways, takamura and hawk are a lot alike. That's the delicious irony of this fight/match up, neither of them wants to admit it though, obviously. But shortly after this episode, Aokimura did say But in the end, I think they do acknoweledge they are alike, but yes, they won't publicly admit it as for ippo's age at this point in the anime, he's still 20 (and he's almost 24 in the manga). right now in the anime, it's been almost one year since he beat sendo. |

Hahahaha Aokimura, love that still. Thanks for the tip off on Ippo's age. It's something I've never been able to keep up with, I think I did the math a month or two back and just forgot all of it, heh. |

No matter his age, ippo still tends to act like a 12 year old, especially with Kumi, which is a bit frustrating. Modified by M_A, 04-26-09, 6:44 PM |

Not as great as the last episode, but wow Hawk is just awesome. I'm looking forward to his fight with Takamura even more now. |

So if i ever go to Japan i better not say that i like their women because they are gonna get pissed off. Strange because in my country they consider it a compliment. Anyway the theories that some of you guys said have a point but i have another one about this delicious women thing. Maybe they have a really big problem when a foreigner(especially when he is a big black guy) says something like that because they have a complex on how small there penis is compared to us(maybe they are afraid we are gonna steal their women). Really every time i saw a Jap porn movie or something that showed Japanese men naked i couldn't stop laughing on how small they are down there. And the thing that makes it really funny is not just the size but the fact that the women were screaming and staff, like they were fucked by Godzilla or something. I was wondering how did they even felt anything. Modified by Monad, 05-30-12, 8:43 PM |

Just wait until the press conference. Hawk will really be a riot. As for Hawk's skin color, I do agree that he's overly tanned as hell. Then again it's later revealed I hope they use his trunks colors from the games and not change them like they did with Arnie and Itagaki. |

After that ring-out punch, I was slack-jawed and bug-eyed. Moments like that are the reason I am glad I never read the manga (bigger shocks when they happen in their animated form) Then, Hawk's racial tendencies just made for even more epicness. Going to a country just for sexual favors of their women... Can't wait to see this guy even more. Im sure he is going to do/say even more things that will provide much shock value. I LOVE IT! |

So I guess that this would be Takamura's most difficult fight we've seen yet on the show. His condition was really terrible. The fight itself was nothing special though, which left me a little disappointed. However I really enjoyed that music with the electric guitar that played in the middle of the match! I felt that it really fit with the mood perfectly (Can't say the same for the rest of the music). Now it wasn't until the end where things actually got a little interesting as *gasp* Brian Hawk is in Japan...in the audience...and looking as arrogant as ever with two girls hanging off of him! I mean my god this guy has got to be the biggest sleezeball ever (and remember....he's American -_- ). I can definitely see how Takamura was motivated by this, so motivated that he actually starts winning his exchanges with West and them KOs him with a ring out!....a freakin ring out! My favorite part has to be after the match though when Hawk meets with Takamura and says that his favorite food in Japan is Japanese women! I wonder if he'll pay for saying that in the next episode. I also find it interesting that the show made it so we don't actually hear Hawk when he speaks in English, and honestly I think that was a really good move. I'm willing to bet a lot of money that if we did hear him it would be nothing but some of the worst Engrish we've ever heard. So all in all this episode was alright, but not great. I'll be watching the next episode soon. 3/5 |

Even though Hawk is the same race and nationality as me I gotta say hes a slimy bastard through out the whole episode. I mean his slimy smile and attitude is what really pissed me off about this guy. So I hope Takamura knocks that cocky smile off his face. |

yakyuu-addict said: Tasty Japanese women, don't really see the significance of it. I thought Takamura would be pissed that Hawk wasn't there to scout. Same here, I thought Takamura would be pissed about Hawk just coming for 'Japanese food'. *Shrugs* Guess we'll be hearing more about Hawk now. I wonder when this show is going to start focusing on Ippo's career again. he's pretty much stopped moving forward and isn't even trying to learn new techniques anymore. ParaParaJMo said: but in some weird ways, takamura and hawk are a lot alike. the biggest difference is that Hawk is a successful pervert and Takamura isn't, which has got to be pissing him off more than all the rest of the crap Hawk is doing combined. |
