Personaly fave would have to be L I'm not saying he's better than anyone I just like him more than the others :D

My favorite character is L, because he's just awesome and extremely charismatic. However, Light is far too much fun to watch thanks to his evil smirks and charismatic personality. A tie really, but L gets a little bit of an edge for putting up such a fight againt Light

I would absolutly say L, he is so cute and funny in his idiotic manners that I even stopped watching after the first part of Death Note.

Besides L I would chose Light because he is so crazy and insane with being "justice" and god and stuff. I really like that insane side of him ^^

So difficult to choose but I think I'll have to go with:

1. L - because he's adorable and so quirky

2. Light - because I love genius psychopaths and the rivalry between him and L is so entertaining

L is simply amazing, and I like his methods to catch Kira. I like things related to mafia, so I think Mello is an obvious choice. I don't like neither Light or Misa, and I don't like Near's methods very much.

My favourite character is Light.
In my view he is really smart. However, his personality has been worse and worse during the anime.
I think he wanted to clear the entire world for people who deserved to live in his opinion, although the book has changed totally his mind at the end. In my opinion he really loved and respected his father even though he was Kira.

Definitely light yagami, his psycho shift and change throughout the entire anime is absolutely anime and he fact he actually makes alot of mistakes instead of being some all knowing God is great. He just seems really cool to me and his philosophy actually more sense enough I where real life people would follow it if he was real.

My opinion on characters:
L - interesting, cool, charistmatic
Light - interesting, cool, charismatic
N - like L, but boring and annoying
Ryuk - fun, interesting, cool, charismatic
Souchirou - kinda meh
Misa - kinda weird compared to other characters, but not as annoying as people say. Maybe too submissive towards Light
Mihael - boring and annying. Only cool thing about Mihael is his look (i guess) and that he eats chocolate the way i do sometimes

His personality is incredible, he has many epic moments, his background is very interesting and good, and his humanization is great.
