Totally caught off guard.

Likewise, 1st I thought it would be going somewhere in the direction of H2 or Touch but the end of ep1 promised something different. I am definitely curious for the upcomming episodes.

I read 12 volumes of the manga before watching this, and I loved what they did in the first episode. I think it captured enough of the relationship between Wakaba and Kou to really let the viewer see how this would affect Kou. I also think it captured the reactions of the various characters perfectly. Having been through similar situations myself, I can tell you that how the various people reacted was dead-on.

I've now also seen the second episode (late last night), and (as I suspected, due to how fast they moved through the first volume of material), they had several flashbacks which explained things which were shown in the first volume of the manga but not in this episode. I think it was the right choice to handle the first volume the way they did, and I'm really looking forward to more of this series.

This show seems like it could be good, but the combination of the sports emphasis and the art style means it's not for me.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand they really missed alot of the character interaction with Wakaba but on the other that served as one hell of a hook. Flashbacks can help salvage some of the scenes that more closely show the feelings between the various characters and Wakaba but it just wont be the same. As much as I would love a exact anime adaptation of cross game I have to admit I really enjoyed this and even cried alittle at the end even though I new it was coming. So until I get my exact adaptaton ill keep watching and enjoying this wonderfull anime :)

I liked it, kept me thoroughly entertained. Since it's my first sports anime, it's definitely dragged me into the genre already.

Seems to me that it skipped over some of the emotional nuance of the manga. The episode was still pretty great though.

It's cute and seems solid, but I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as Eden or K-On!.

Another well done series by Adachi. Great story and well paced. From what I can tell from the next episode, they'll use flashbacks to cover what they hurried over in episode 1.

On a side note: we just released our version of #1 at http://a.scarywater.net/ca/
We have 2 versions. A 704x400 for challenged computers and a 1280x720 for up to date ones. Check it out if you want.

After watching two episodes, I decided to pick this one up as my 12th show this season. Probably, this will be my first time reviewing a ton of series at the same time.

I have to admit that the choices this year seems to be a lot more better as compared to last year's. Anyway, I find episode one a little bit too rushed for my taste. I was just about to enjoy the characters. However, I didn't expect a "shocking" event will take place on the first episode.

When I watched episode two, it canceled my feelings for episode one because of the huge time skip. I'm not sure if this kind of pacing is good enough for me. However, episode two seems like the "first" episode in my book. I guess the first episode is there to develop the main character's potential for the sport.

i downloaded the first episode of this series about 2 weeks ago, and i thought i can watch it as i`m downloading some things because it seemed all cute and fun, and then she just died and i was really puzzled. XD
for two minutes i was like "wtf? she isn't really dead, right? it`s a mistake or something.. "

but i have to say, it got me interested. :P

To be fair, you'll probably get 52 episodes of greatness over 11 small episodes.

Will keep watching. I tell you, no better way to get people hooked than the "Grave of the Fireflies" effect.

Just checked this first episode out on a whim, and I've got to say that I was impressed. Very impressed, in fact I'll go out of my way and say that this was quite possibly one of the best first episodes I've seen.

The pacing was well done and it made very clear to me how close Wakaba and Kou were. Good stuff.

Wow, this is a very good first episode, they pack so much information in an episode yet it doesn't feel forced... the pacing is beyond outstanding O.o

I thought Wakaba would stick around for a bit... kinda surprise that she's gone just like that...

This was a pretty good first episode. I was a little hesitant about watching this because of the sports themes (I have never found sports anime that interesting). What had me a little curious about this was the romance/slice of life aspect...and the fact that a lot of people liked it. Hopefully, for me, there won't be too much serious sports stuff....but who knows, maybe I'll find the sports aspect interesting.

Everything was so cute until they killed her off. Sure -- it was a punch to the stomach, but it also seemed abrupt. Maybe there's yet to be seen significance in Wakaba's death, but right now I see it as a cheap plot device.

Ah, maybe I'll just read the manga.

2nd time watching this series and i still cried at the end dam lol

"I am the bone of my sword,
Steel is my body and Fire is my blood,
I have created over a thousand blades,
Unknown to Death,
Nor known to Life,
Have withstood pain to create many weapons,
Yet, those hands will never hold anything,
So as I pray, unlimited blade works"

I have just finished Touch today, and started this one.
Now I have no doubt that Adoshi is a sadist. How a sad way to start a series.

Also, the characters are too young. I hope there would be a time skip to get rid of this childish aura.

I've watch the anime but I think its manga better. Wakaba's death is better than H2's Amamiya Sakura's death (that's not logical!) or Touch's Uesugi Katsuya's death (It'd be better if those twins have fight on baseball). It's shocking me 'till now :)

I've finished reading those books~
