The “Book of Songs” or “Shih Ching” 詩經 from Chinese antiquity is considered to be one of the Five Classics of Chinese Literature and was supposedly put into its current form by Confucius himself. In the “Book of Songs” the Chinese recorded songs (poetry) from all aspects of their civilization. This included Martial (Military), Court, Folk, Ceremonial, and Love Songs, as well as other types of music. Unfortunately, we only have the words to theses songs the musical notation itself has been lost to the ages. As a historical find this set of documents is extremely significant. We are able to capture a snapshot of Chinese culture from over two thousand years ago.

What song(s) would you choose to represent society and world we live in today?
Why?

Please use songs that have actual lyrics and are in english.
You can post the lyrics in a spoiler tab or just the song name and artist.
Please say why you feel that this song represent our society.
It can be positive or negative.

Abney Park - "Stigmata Martyr"

The song is basically a giant metaphor for how humans tend to treat celebrities; we throw them in the spotlight but then are so eager to burn them down again. It can also be seen though, I guess, as the bastardization of religion over the ages.

Carmina Burana

Mmmyes <3 Any movement in particular? O Fortuna's a bit hackneyed, so I am thinking In taberna quando sumus. They all may fit some way or another, I guess, oh the sex, oh the grimdarkness, and oh the love of warm weather.

I'd say Season's End by dear ol' Marillion and 0.00.00 by Kazumoto Endo. First one's the probably greatest (only great) song on the topic of global warming - as far as I with my 0 in musical IQ can tell-, the second just feels like the modern age. Ishikawa Chiaki's Uninstall fits any era, so let's shoehorn that one in too.

And the world is anything but.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

Anyways, I think the song is quite fitting for the world we live in today.
