How about 'Gundam 00 is an Evangelion ripoff because it adopts religious symbolism, but it's also better than Eva because there's a logical connection between the religious symbolism and its correct assertion that acts of fanatical terrorism are sometimes necessary to put the world to rights'? |

I like it, but, "_____ is an Evangelion ripoff," is too obvious of a troll. I would use the term, "borrows heavily from." Other than that...APPROVED! |

Fact: everything is an Evangelion rip off, all other statements are blatant fanboyism. |

Seriously, RahXephon and EVA aren't anywhere near as similar as people make them out to be and even then their similarities come about because they're based on older mecha shows. |

Isn't RahXephon based more on Raideen while Eva based more on Ideon and Megazone or have I got my shows mixed up? |

Yeah RahXephon has lots of similarities to Raideen apparently. RahXephon was a decent show, but eh, it's not something I would watch again. |

From some Sci-Fi movie review site: Patlabor: The Movie **1/2 said: In my review of Ghost in the Shell I said that Japanese animation (anime) can be more than a bunch of RoboTech type giant robots manned by wide-eyed Pokemon style kids beating the crap out of each other. You wouldn't think it watching Patlabor: The Movie (incidentally also directed by Mamoru Oshii, who would direct Ghost in the Shell later on). Blade Runner **** said: True, the plot is riddled with more holes than one may bother picking, but the combination of fantastic special effects, intense violence and situations, an uniquely downcast tone and ending makes for a not-to-be-missed film; one which at times is difficult to have been actually produced by Hollywood. So pointless special effects and violence are, "OMG THIS IS AWESOME!" despite the billion plot holes but mecha is, "hurr this is stupid." This is why /m/, for all its stupidity, is still better than most of the internet. |

/m/ may have a lot of bad points, but at least it doesn't combine my two most hated things: people who try to make Blade Runner out to be amazing when it is a terrible, terrible film and people who bash animation because it isn't all deadpan drama. Likewise on the nice avatar Feez. Where is that from anyway? |

Thankfully /m/ still has its share of intelligent members. Also lol Robotech. And my avatar is Kagura from the Ga-Rei series (not really /m/ related...). Probably one of the few manga I keep up with. Haven't really been too crazy about it lately, but I'm too lazy to change it. |

You know, I actually agree with some parts of it? But its like you can tell they only watched the first volume before they made up their minds on the whole thing. There's plenty I like about 00... It was a hit and miss review though I can't say for certain having not watched the dub. But it had my eye twitching with rage at some parts. |

This guy is full of so much shit. Terrorism didn't exist until 2001, therefore making it totally modern. Of course it would be one thing if it was just some pretentious ANN douche spouting it, but AMERICANS ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS. llxwarbirdxll said: >Mecha action filled with grown-up ideas and grown-up politics. >grown-up ideas and grown-up politics. :| That was the part that cracked me up the most. Just the choice of using the term, "grown-up," was pretty terrible, but the whole idea of 00's politics being anything more than the kind of skewed portrayal of real life politics thought up by third rate fiction writers was hysterical. It's just another case of animu fans not being willing to accept that they enjoy a form of entertainment meant largely for kids and teenagers. |
