I think that everyone who´s a member in this club shares a certain fondness for the genre... But so far all I see are Anime / Manga titles and the names of one movie and one book somewhere in the description... This being an Anime / Manga based Site, I can somehow understand this... But still I think it could be interesting to ask around what "else" there is, to you, when you think of "Cyberpunk"... To give you an example : What pops up in my head first is Shadowrun. Followed by fitting music for both the game and the genre at large ( this music including basicly allmost anything that can be done with a synthesizer, some shrapnells of metall or both ) Then there´s of course Movies, Books, Games and all sorts of stuff... ( but I don´t want to bother you with whatever stuff I could list here ) So... what is it that, apart from all the Anime / Manga stuff that was listed here allready, jumps to your mind when you think about Cyberpunk ? |

Robocop and Terminator, these two classic movies were probably the first "Cyberpunk" things I came to know. Really great ones... classic (right after Blade Runner=) |

Neuromancer it is the bible of the cyberpunk... And if you dont read that yet you should shutdown your pc, go to a bookstore, buy it, read it. Revoluttionary vision....since 1985 the elements of it stills around in the movies, animes, mangas, and everything sci-fi that you watch... When i think in cyberpunk the image that i see it is a trash-hole-future...high-tec slums...mankind in collapse... |

A future with incredible tech improvements but also the dependence of people to them and how this change their lives for better or for worse. Often unstable and followed by a conflict, revolution, apocalyptic happening, new world order, etc. or returning to the start point, without the hi-tech depicted. If someone's interested it'll be a pleasure to list / share / exchange film or music references. Modified by Anachronistic, 02-15-10, 10:00 AM |
