Ok so i basically like anime with action and so on. I have been hearing about NGE and started to watch it...and the thing about me is that no matter how bad an anime is, if i start i try to finish it so as not to judge it so quickly (except i really just cant stand them)...anyways i watched NGE up to the second to last episode and i absolutely hated that anime but people like it so i would really like to know why because it puzzles me....so feel free to add your own opinions and thoughts..thanks |

Shouldn't this like... go in the Neon Genesis Evangeliion forum? At any rate, people are entitled to their own opinion. I think most people flag this as a first of it's type, with characters so severely screwed up it wasn't funny. Personally, I didn't get it either, but that may have something to do with the flu I had. I've been meaning to rewatch it, but I dunno. Also, this is again just my opinion, but the action genre doesn't really seem to be the cornerstone of NGE. I always took it as more of a drama/sci-fi/"I'mma Screw With Your Head" series. |

You haven't watched the last two episodes, so you don't know real pain. |

You haven't even finished the series yet; when you do, you should try to coherently collect your thoughts on it and then try to explain what you feel. (Besides, if you hate the ending, you might think the movies a better conclusion to the story. Who knows?) |

Basically its writing and characters are way more thorough and credible than those of most anime series. It offers its watchers surprising plot twists with an excelleng usage of plotholes and fairly interesting psychological pondering. I can see why someone would not like it though. It has many flaws in its execution and even though it is superior as a whole, its basic structure of moving from one enemy to another is pretty dull in itself, even though it is obviously allegorical. |

I liked Evangelion. I can't really give a good explanation as to why. I always saw it as a cult classic. It's not for everybody. ntHai said: You haven't watched the last two episodes, so you don't know real pain. Lol! |

you do realise the entire focus of the is ultimately NOT action or mecha or aliens or w/e. the entire thing is character driven |

Yeah, as I said... It's not focused on being an action anime at all. Like, not in the slightest. DAMMIT SIMO |

You're already so close to finishing the series, don't stop now. I suggest skipping 25 & 26 and head straight to End of Evangelion the movie. The series does plummet into a psychological nightmare but with a little internet research you may actually end up liking the complexity of the plot. |

What I should have said was that the entire POINT of the evangelion wasn't the action. it was the characters and their emotions/feelings/reactions/whatever. |
