What do you do when you feel like you won't be able to find good anime?

Let's assume that you have finished the series you have been watching for some days. You want to start watching something new. But you also feel like you won't be able to find a good thing or you don't know what kind of thing you want to watch.

Also there are thousands of anime out there so it's quite a hassle deciding what to watch. Are you feeling the same way after finishing something? Or do you start watching every new anime with the same excitement and enthusiasm you had before? Also how do you decide what you are going to watch? I mostly ask at recommendations forum but I'm so prejudiced that I can't decide.

I tag my PTW list with priority levels so I can get an idea as to what I'd want to watch sooner. I even form a line sometimes (although not set in stone) so that when I finish one series I just jump to the next one without spending hours shuffling through my list.

As for whether something is good or not, that's always the unknown element. But it'd be a mistake to constantly linger on "man the last show I watched was so much better", because then you can't enjoy what you're watching next for what it is.

I watch Super Sonico the Animation and giggle to myself.

I watch bad stuff

Or I play games

In that process atm. Just watched Major, all seasons and OVAS. It was so good, now I want an Anime similar to it.

I usually just scrounge around my PTW or On-Hold till I find one, but atm I haven't so I settled for White Album >

Rewatch everything again!!!!!!! IN A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^O^
Take a look. There's an odd, darkish, red coloring inside of my gun-cannon. Can you just... do a little scrub scrub and clean it out?

Can you see it? You probably can (kinda hard to miss it *cough*). Just Reach your arm on up back there. I, myself, have no plausible idea on how it got all the way in there. >:3

I don't worry. There's always good anime available, if you know where to look. I'm not usually enthusiastic when I start a new anime though, since I don't know if the anime will be good or not.

You add stuff to your plan to watch list beforehand and keep up with the current shows so that doesn't happen and you're always watching something.

I know that feel.

Take a little break to get a fresh mind, and watch whatever you feel like watching in your PTW, or you could just choose a random one.

Also a lil tip, enable the "Priority" option in your PTW list to organize after low/medium/high priority and focus on watching the high priorities first.

Well since I have shit taste in anime, I don't really know. I guess I just like to watch the best and most popular/mainstream anime out there, some would classify it as a "Shit taste" but I don't really care. IMO there is no such thing as "shit taste"

Everyone is allowed to watch or like whatever they want. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

WAH, that's scary. I was thinking about making a similar topic today... I'm also wondering a LOT how other people find new anime to watch. Just like OP said, I also take a lot of recommendation from other people's lists, but what ways do THEY have to find those anime. I myself have found a lot of new series by watching AMV's, but that just seems like such a weird way... I do have a reasonably sized PTW list right now, but i'm really at a loss what I should do to find NEW series. :(

Wearing just my boxers, I'll wrap a blanket around myself and assume the fetal position in a dark area, usually inside a closet with the door shut or in a corner in the basement.
After several hours of crying and remembering all of the amazing moments during the anime I just finished, I'll open my laptop and youtube the opening/ending songs to the anime and completely break down.

In all seriousness though, I either take some time away from anime or rewatch some old favorites that I haven't seen in a year or so. Each time I think I've watched the best of what's out there, I find more.

Accept it. I've long since accepted that I'll likely never see another masterpiece as good as Inferno Cop. At least until IC 2 becomes a thing.

Add things before hand and plan ahead. I always plan at least 3 series ahead of what I want to watch so I can just go in order. Also keeping up with current series make it easier to transition.

my harddrive is packed with possibilities, so i choose my next show according to my mood, b/c i already know the basis of the shows i've downloaded

recently i've been ripping through Magi, but knew i would end up polishing off everything i had in no time. SO, i picked up Hajime no Ippo. Its been on my harddrive forever and it just felt like it was just the right moment. I was correct, i love it.

I search like and idiot until I find a good anime. Also, I have the strange habit of preferring 2-cour anime, and lately it's very difficult to find them. The average now is around 12-ish episodes.

Personally I go back to an anime I've watched previously, which I know are good, and re-watch them, it just sparks that there are animes which are good again when I do this. Generally though I don't really get the challenge of getting stuck of what to watch, I mean, there's got to be something enjoyable in that huge list of anime so I just pick one at random or one with the most interesting description and go for it. For all I know, that bad looking one could be a brilliant one in disguise.

I've got plenty of issues. Slitting my wrist is one of them.

FYI, I write about my abused wrists whenever I see an angsty/first world problems thread.

Don't feel bad. Things will get better just like you told me. Although I don't recommend slitting your wrists so often, that could cause nerve damage.
