So after a bit of discussion, we're actually gonna do this. For those of you familiar with Fantasy Sports, this event will be the same thing with an anime twist. For those less than familiar, basically players will be forming their own team by selecting anime from the upcoming season. The list of eligible anime will be posted shortly. Once the teams are chosen, everyone sits back and watches their teams rack up points according to criteria that will be posted. You don't even need to watch the anime you've chosen. For example, say we started this last fall season with the only criteria for winning points is 1 point for each user watching on MAL every week and 50 points if the anime gets licensed during the season. If my team consists of Kanon and Death Note (assume both are active), and the stats follow as such: Week 1: Kanon, 10 users watching Death Note, 25 users watching Kanon wins 10 points, Death Note wins 25 points. Your team has 35 points total. Week 2: Kanon, 35 users watching Death Note, 40 users watching Kanon wins 35, Death Note wins 40 Your team has 110 points total. Week 3: Kanon, 70 users watching Death Note, 60 users watching Viz Licenses Death Note Kanon wins 70 points, Death Note wins 60 plus another 50 for license this week. Your team has 290 points total. ...and this goes on for the next 14 or so weeks. That's the simplified version of this game. Click here for the Spring Season 2013 rules. Of course, research is completely optional. You could always go for a gut choice when deciding your team. Hey, that strategy worked for the one who won the first season so it may work for you! On the other hand, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th position for that season had done their research. Which strategy shall you choose? Hopefully we can have lots of fun with this. :) UPDATE: Join the Fantasy Anime League Club here: http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=379 Modified by Luna_, 03-17-13, 12:26 PM |

Sounds interesting, although I really don't 100% get the point of doing this yet. Too bad I don't have time to participate in this, since from March 28th, 2007 onward is like the worst time for me, so have fun with this people! I hope it turns out well and that you all don't get into too many fist fights over some wheelings and dealings :P. |

The point is really just to have fun predicting which anime will become popular. And there's no need to be active during the duration of this event. You can just set up your bracket once and let your anime rack up points, although it would be better if you switch out your anime with bench positions, but it's not necessary. |

I don't really get how it works either. So the anime will be those from the upcoming season? How many anime on a team/bench? |

My guess is that this is just betting on which anime will be the most succesful this next season. But the whole game seems to be quite........confusing. -_- |

hmm...I didn't think this would be difficult to understand, but I'll edit the post and try to simplify things. |

I decided that having benches this time makes things too complicated so I took that out to simplify things. |

Ok it's perfectly clear to me now. So how and when do we post our contending brackets? |

If this works though we'll definitely have benches next season. |

Would we be allowed to swap at any point, one show for another? Or is that considered having a bench team? Sounds like Fafarazzi, but for anime. :) |

I think I understand what is going on now. Wish I saw the simplified version before hitting the wiki. It was like a jet flying over head....you know it's passing you by....but the closer you get to it, the more of a headache you have. Are you guys REALLY gonna be okay? What if 1,000...no 1million people sign up for it; I assume there is quite a bit of automation going on behind the scenes to give you guys such confidence, even if it were limited to registered members of MAL. Also, how is it going to be displayed? Each person's profile, forum format, whole other website, etc... |

wildebeest0001 I have a sugestion. Why not create an "avatar-like" award to give to the winner of the League. Something that says "Anime League 1st Edition Winner". So he/she could put on the profile page for e.g. What do you think? |
