Joe hit him so hard I thought Carlos would sprout wings there and then and head straight off to heaven when he was flying through the air.

I'll never get tired of his accent, his "Thank you" is so adorable :D

And with this episode, the series deserves more than a 10. I just can't describe it.

Wow, what a fight between Joe and Carlos. 10 years of progress and making it much more complete than S1 made this truly amazing.

I almost want to box myself when I'm watching this. At first, I was beginning to get bored with the recap episodes (which are understandable, considering this was made 10 years after S1), but when the Carlos arc came in... I mean, wow. So much better than in S1, and I loved it there too. This is truly epic.

Incredible fight! but damn I still prefer the 1st season Joe vs Carlos because that really epic.

Maybe, this is how people feel when they watch FMA first, and then the remake one, tt really felt too rushed. Gosh! I need to watch the original FMA lol

Great fight, but I'm sort of sad that they didn't include Joe and Carlos just brawling it out in the ring, not giving a shit about fouls or the bell.

Still, this season is really good, much better than season 1 I say.

This was as epic as the 70s version of the fight. Great stuff.

It ended in a draw.
Those super fast punches were awesome, I wonder if there are more boxers like that in the world.
Carlos scared me when he fell down those stairs, I thought that we were going to see another Rikiishi.

Although I thought this version of the fight was overall a bit better, I have to say that I liked the conclusion in season one more. Beating the crap out of each other and not being able to stay on their feet had more class than a decision by points.

And well, as much as I liked these remade episodes, I'm still glad that the story continues with new content.

@FMmatron Since I plan on watching this "legend" someday, what is the cause of those changes? Were they trying to vary a little from before to keep the interest of the audience or was it to be closer to the manga? Something else entirely?

(also, how numerous are those modifications?)

edit @FMmatron Thank you.

@Rei366

I haven't read the manga, but I'm fairly sure last season they went a bit anime original at the end. This season the pace was faster and they left out Joes days as tourboxer. The relationship of Joe and his rival in this arc was also portrayed a bit different. Overall I tend to think it was closer to the manga this way, but like said, haven't read it so I'm not sure.

Aside from the story, art and animation improved a bit and I also liked the OSTs more, nothint against the older model, it had it's charm, but this was more fun to watch.

That was no ordinary "fall" of Carlos, at the end of the episode. i'm calling it out right now. hope he doesn't end up like Rikiishi or something.

Overall I preferred the Carlos arc in the first season over this take, but that being said. These last two episodes blew that match so completely out of the water it's ridiculous.

Wow, that was many many times better than in the prequel! Such an intense and impactful fight, it was truly sensational. Carlos slipping at the end was so random, though it gave me a real scare, haha...

Finally the recaps end, finally everything is going to be new.

Joe's uppercut reminded me of Aoki's kaeru punch. I really hope that Carlos's fall was just accidental.

An epic and wild fight with two passionate characters. Beautifully handled with this new animation.

S1 was much better than this, even though it was extremely slow, it had more character-based focus.

What a episode 🔥🔥🔥

That whole match was intense & having it as a draws was not that surprising.

They managed to go all the way(round 12).

Joe look pretty awesome in that ending shot. Osamu Dezaki finest pastel art.

This season definitely improved a LOT on showing us the relentless fight between the two.
Though I do prefer Season 1's conclusion ... how they just kept fighting after the bell, seeing who could outlast the other despite the match being over.

Fantastic fight though, hell of an episode!

And with that we're into new territory, excited to see what's next for Joe!

Man, that has to be one of the best anime fights ever, and knowing the reputation of this season there's going to be even better fights coming up! This seriously got me even more hyped than watching an actual live fight, and that's something impressive. There's gonna be a dip in momentum coming up, there just has to be, but I can already see that the peak of this series will be legendary. All hail Osamu Dezaki!
