Evangelion or Evangelion RE-TAKE

I asked this to someone else and they couldnt give me an answer so I ask you guys. I can't really say for myself since I've seen the anime version of the series but haven't read the manga version.

Huzzah! It won't take a week!

you're asking for the exact differences? that will take a while to list them all so I'll just list down the most noticeable ones.

1) First, there's Shinji's character. Since this is manga, Sadamoto has the luxury of using thought bubbles and that expands another dimension to his character. He's not that drastically different for his anime counterpart but in the manga version, Shinji possessess something resembling a spine (which he lacked in the anime).

2) There's also the expanded backstories on both Asuka and Kaji. I won't go in-depth to spoil what exactly was added to their past but all I can say is that I was surprised, no shocked, when I read them.

3) A number of Angel battles were truncated, some even omitted entirely from the plot but the story flowed just the same. It didn't bother me as much as I expected back when I read it.

4) I found the first couple of volumes to be much more light-hearted than the anime. It may be attributed to Sadamoto's artwork since he uses a wider variety of facial expressions in the manga, particularly those of the 3 initial Eva pilots.
