| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Pretty awesome match. The two teams are pretty close in scores with at TIE at first quarter. Kuroko is pretty awesome this episode going up against Aomine directly. Aomine is still my favorite player though but Kuroko's efforts are pretty damn admirable. Wow, dat ED song. I love it. |

| New OP & ED!! They just show each of their "improved" skills, and the enemy team is still strong. Finishing the first round with tie. People starting to figure out Kuroko's new drive, and it needs Kagami. That damaged Kuroko and the team. Fighting back without Kuoko. |

| That little three point shootout between Sakurai and Hyuuga was nice. Hyuuga with the buzzer beater. Lol at the faces they were making. Aomine stopped Kuroko's vanishing drive like it was nothing. And that ignite pass too. Guy is a beast. |

| Epic 3-point battle. Hyuga really using that new skill wisely. Ignite Pass Kai was awesome but it got shut down by Aomine too easily. And the trick behind the Vanishing Drive finally revealed... Though the way Aomine stopped it was too unbelievable. Damn Kuroko was on the verge of breaking down. Kagami and Aomine are finally gonna go one-on-one. |

| I laughed so hard at those cheesy lyrics at the beginning of the opening. New ending for opening and vice versa please. <3 They seem to hold back with animation budget for a particular scene (or let's say i hope that's the explanation behind the downhill quality in this episode) Overall good episode, but i wonder why they made A(h)omine catch the Ignite Pass Kai with his left hand and not his right, like it is in the manga. |

| Intense ep. Ignite Pass Kai destroyed... Nice new OP. It could be quite possible that some scenes change every episode. It's the first time, a total of 5 manga chapters got animated into 1 episode o.o Quite fast pacing. |

| Tetsu was so cool at the end of episode 13, I was so excited to see him kick ass. I feel like crying for him when the ignite pass kai is defeated.. But he is sure to make an even more epic comeback. Doubt that they'll lose the match in the middle of the second season, after losing the first tournament. Like the new op! |
| Anyone else feel that the opening was less spectacular than the first? The new opening was really stunning though. The vanishing drive finally gets cracked, I feel so bad for Testsu though. But damn, "There's no such thing as a futile effort." Loved those lines. |

| Great episode. Both the new OP and ED are awesome. You know, I don't see why it isnt impossible for Kuroko to put a downwards spiral on the ball when he passes. Which could be used to pass it across court into the hoop. |

| LOL for Kuroko's Ignite Pass Kai being a rasengan, he has been watching too much Naruto lately :D Aomine looked like some messiah while stopping it, lolz. Weird that it didn't break his arm. Kuroko got crushed, mentally and physically. Intense episode, as always. Opening is worse than the first one, I won't forget how amazing animation it had. Ending is decent though, Kuroko's voice actor is quite a good singer. |

| Wow, that was such a great episode. The OST in the last 5 minutes was amazing. Especially Aomine's soundtrack. Dude is such a beast. Blocked a kamehameha with his bare hands! LOL I like the old OP better but the new ED is awesome. |

| So Kuroko's vanishing drive needed Kagami as a distraction. Notice how Kiyoshi (instead of Kagami) seemed to be at the end of Kuroko's passes after each of his previous drives as well as this one. This is an awesome episode. They took out a lot of exposition (I wanted to see this: http://z.mhcdn.net/store/manga/5259/12-118.0/compressed/k01.jpg?v=11324531221) that was in the manga and covered almost 5 manga chapters with this episode. We are definitely seeing the Yosen match, if the OP hasn't already proven that. They rushed the pacing for this episode and probably subsequent ones as well to fit the Yosen match into this season. The result is that this episode had the pacing of a real NBA match as opposed to the Slam Dunk anime pacing if you guys know what I mean. Alex in the OP. More Alex in the ED. Time to show my random appreciation for a non-related athlete called Alex: http://olympicgirls.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/alex3.jpg I think the animation is alright. I skimmed through the episode again and could only find 2 instances where the animation looked cheap: Kuroko's failed drive vs Aomine and Sakurai running back (looked like he was jogging on the spot) to defend after scoring. The best scenes (which means better animation) are yet to come, both in this match and the next. I think some people were disappointed by the OP and let that disappointment carry through to the episode itself. Or manga readers might have too high of an expectation going into this episode. As to why Kuroko can use the drive against Momoi and Kagami: note Takao saying that, because of the way the drive works, most players cannot track Kuroko's ducking movement. Then Midorima adds that with Kagami, the drive is complete. Kagami is no oridinary player, so how could Kuroko's drive have work against him? I think it was because: 1) Kagami just wanted to witness Kuroko's new trick and wasn't in competitive mode so his defense was slack. 2) His animal instinct, which is what makes him a great player, had been lost for some time (you'll know what I mean in the next episode) 3) It's not unusual for great players to fall for simple moves that they normally wouldn't fall for. In the NBA, you see all-star players having their ankles broken by simple crossovers. The way I see it, it's a percentage thing. With Kagami, the percentage of success is greatly elevated. But even without him, it is not totally useless against good players. Does the Kagami mental simulation vs Aomine remind anyone of the hypnosis battle simulation between Sasuke and Itachi? |

| wow. sucks to be kuroko this ep like damn :/ it'll be awesome once he finally beats aomine tho :) that's what i'm betting will happen, anyway i mean seirin can't be out 1st round, can they? >< also wtf was kagami doing in america? he better have learned an epic move lol it's great to mature and all and make the right decisions but... things don't look great :( |
