A nice short heartwarming story, with a lot of hidden meaning 9/10 not a lot of anime get me thinking this much. AnoniMus said: I don't get it. I liked it a lot, but what's the point? It's stupid even. I personally think that it's about time and how you can't stay in one place forever and you have to move on, the water rising and having to build higher. But when you get older you look back on it. |

8/10 Maybe it's because I'm still young, that this doesn't affect me emotionally THAT MUCH. But, overall, it was really artistic. Without any kind of dialogue, you can feel the emotion in the story and the feelngs of the old man through the whole film. It was a really nice short, I recommend it. :) |

adamantine said: It reminded me of the beginning of Up. Very touching look at someone's life; I definitely liked how they showed that with the levels of his house. Exactly. |

I almost broke down at a few points, especially the two parts where he clinked the glasses. |

Incredibly enjoyable for a short film. Seeing the old man's flashbacks was heart warming. A solid 8/10 for me. ![]() |

Simple but beautiful. I'm deeply moved. Loved the music, visuals, and the most of all, the message. An easy 10/10. Modified by StormViruz, 10-21-12, 12:32 PM |

Exactly. its entirely possible that the beginning of Up may have been directly influenced from this short. "Droll thing life is—that mysterious arrangement of merciless logic for a futile purpose. The most you can hope from it is some knowledge of yourself—that comes too late—a crop of unextinguishable regrets." - Joseph Conrad (Heart of Darkness) |

Every single time I watch this short, it just gets better and better. Really contemplating giving this a 10, but a very well-deserved 9 for now. |

This was one of the best films I've watched, short or otherwise. One of the few things that have ever gotten me close to tears... Gets a very good 8 from me. ![]() |

An animation simple but accurate. A simple story but it also hits the target. The colors, the movement, the setting, the characters. The house itself is the subsidy, material of their memories. A gorgeous anime both visually and in metaphors. |
