I'm guessing the original thread on this one got KO'd by MAL problems? Anyway, this episode was so much better than episode 7. I loved Martinez looking like a golden god every time he completely thwarted Date just because it's a nice contrast to the usual Ippo "if I fight my hardest there will be a light at the end of the tunnel" thinking. Plus the feeling of the manga was well transferred this episode, something that hasn't always happened with the anime adaptations of Ippo. |

Yeah, I really liked where they placed Martinez's line of "Goodbye Eiji Date" as he is falling as opposed to the impact of his corkscrew in the manga. |

An absolutely amazing episode. I guess the man to beat for Ippo is that Mexican guy. If he can beat that guy then no one would ever win him. This is the episode that will make anyone who was thinking of starting to box to forget about it. All those broken bones, i felt pain only watching him. By the way the i fight with everything i got to impress the one i love is a good idea since is probably one of the main reasons a man fights hard. A man always fights harder when his girl is watching him. |

What an inspirational fight, despite Date losing it was still emotional to watch, now Ippo's feelings are solidified, he's going to get a lot better now! |

I love these fights soo much, because unlike most shounens, you really don't know who is going to win. At all. I went back and forth between them rapidly at different points, it was an amazing match. |

That was BRUTAL, and hard to watch at points. Date was torn apart piece by piece. It's amazing, all that effort and fury and Ricardo wasn't even scratched. As if Ippo's spar wasn't enough of a wake up call, seeing the person who beat him, who he looked up to, destroyed like that has got to have an effect. Regardless, it's all up to Ippo to take on that monster now. Date's finished. ![]() |

One of the most dangerous fights we've since in the whole series.. :-( A heartbreaking lost for Date.. I was so scared for him with all the fractures.. but still mustered the strength to keep on fighting.. My heart sunk when Martinez dodged after Eiji's corkscrew punch.. The scene in the hospital was touching.. don't couldn't help myself chuckle at the lame "baton pass" Haha.. but for Ippo.. It looks like he's more stronger and focused to train even more! :-) |

MY GOD, I don't think there will be a fight that will ever even come close to how dangerous that one was. I was feeling Date's pain during the whole thing. |

There's no words to describe all these feelings. Sure I had read this beforehand in the manga, but it's still just amazing. "Wanted to show her how cool I am" "Damn it", rarely do such simple words carry so much emotion and meaning. Can't wait to see THAT match, I'm probably going to faint :p 5/5 Modified by VictimOfFate, 08-08-12, 12:20 PM |

Oh my god, what an amaizing episode! I almost cried at the end of the episode, when Date's wife was quoting Ippo's words "...the current me!". :') |

I really thought Date was going to win. As long as Ippo gets to fight the world champ, I'll be satisfied. |
