 At the end of the special episode that aired today, Sword Art Online: Extra Edition, it was announced that the sequel to Sword Art Online will air this upcoming year. It was then later confirmed by the official Twitter account that the sequel will be a TV anime. Sword Art Online II will animate the Phantom Bullet arc from the light novel, set in the fictitious game "Gun Gale Online."It was also announced that the BD/DVD of Sword Art Online: Extra Edition will contain an extra episode of the Sword Art Offline specials. It will be released on April 23, 2014. A key visual and PV for the sequel have also been posted on the official website (PV via YouTube). | Oh, awesome Sinon and some Trap Kirito. This should be fun. But with A-1 adapting this, I'm not going to like it leaving out half of the entire story by leaving out the crucial internal monolouges that gives us insight to Sinon. And I'm going to have another bout of extreme cynicism and loss of faith in humanity with the immense hatred the series is going to incur from certain segments of the regular anime watching community. |

| Eh. I have so many mixed feelings on this. As much as I enjoyed SAO when it was airing, when the Fairy Arc started, I admit I got fairly bored. It was the same formula over and over again. Not to mention that Kirito is unrealistically OP, which makes for a rather boring main character. I haven't read the light novel, so I don't know how this arc will play out. Without a doubt, hard core fans will enjoy this one, but I don't know. I feel as though they should have let the fandom have a bit of a breather. I'll still watch it, but I'm not sure if it's going to live up to the first SAO. |

| It was bound to happen sooner or later. This will probably air on Spring at best, Summer at worst. Either way, it will probably air at the same time as Mahouka(assuming it's 2-cour). MAL is going to explode when that happens. Should be fun. |
