Is there a specific name for the hair thing that Asa Shigure (Shuffle!) or Mikako Satsukitane (Sora no Otoshimono) wears? I asked a some people and nobody really knows.

Tress Ribbons, at least for the ones with ribbons attached like Asa's.

edit: Actually nevermind, its falls under the category of it but it's different. It's actually just a ribbon on a long lock of hair, it's just usually seen tied in x's or knots.

Yoshino had at least some sort of reason for wearing a clip. the other guy (Kagari) didn't.

What, you didn't know that delinquents and pompadours go hand-in-hand together?
I'm pretty sure it's popular because of the rockabilly style going on with Greasers and all that in the 50's, not to mention a bunch of punk influences (as I have a feeling the Blue Hearts played a big part in the japanese Yankee and Delinquent styles)

I don't mean to derail this thread but what's the name of that anime in your sig where the girl transforms into a skeleton?

Speaking of hair ties, I didn't know the doughnut-shaped elastic hair ties are called "scrunchies" until I watched Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou. The tidbits one learns while watching anime...
