Episode 46 Dayum 11-0, certainly a crushing defeat, but the mood soon changed with Sawamura barking like an idiot lol. |

Episode 42 Basically what you guys said. Intense home plate slide and looking forward to seeing Haruichi in action as well! Episode 43 Lol'd at brians comment about Haru'y eyes xD. But he did an awesome job. Sawamura on the other hand is in a tough spot. It was heartwarming to see Maki get more of the less revenge-y kind of enjoyment out of baseball for a change too. Episodes 44-46 [spoiler] Sawamura put an epic exclamation mark on his performance and turned around the match. Well done! On the other hand we sei Mei totally crush the opponent team more or less on his own. Ouch. The upcoming final is definitely promising, I'm especially looking forward to the battle between the catchers. |

Episode 50 The scene for Sakai's collapse was so well done and I loved seeing the sheer perseverance of the entire team's work ethic. Then, the sketchy line work when Yuki makes contact with the baseball for the homerun, followed by the excellent use of silence as everyone watches in awe and suddenly, the crowd goes wild…man, that whole sequence is great. It's super duper weird seeing Coach without the goatee though lol. New OP/ED next week. |

I'm back so you don't feel all alone in this thread brian. Episode 47 Indeed, the flashback was very enjoyable, it was great to see Chris pwning like that before he got his injury. Blondie seems fairly bitter that Miyuki rejected his invitation back then, not sure his anger is justified though. Usually sports anime characters are gung-ho about competing with each other and their best friends ^^. Episode 48 Yeah, it was nice to see Tanba's passionate speech and the increasingly hyped-up atmosphere in general. All the character introductions from Mei's team needed were their names on the screen Baccano-style ^^. Episode 49 Probably the most enjoyable episode out of these past 3, at least for me. Seeing Azuma again was nice and the chubby jokes pretty hilarious. As was Furuya's aura in the background throughout the episode. This guy REALLY wants to pitch xD. I'm a bit worried that injury will come back and haunt Ryousuke at some point though. Episode 50 [spoiler] Everything you guys said. The flashback was great and had some really strong scenes. Also dat tiny fist pump after the homerun was hilarious xD. |

Episode 53 Sawamura's always a great laugh, and his supportive efforts this ep were a great breather. Mei still holding strength in reserve isn't the best sign for Seidou - the pressure's turning up with Tanba set to come on, so this inning looks crucial. One minor gripe I have is how they skipped through Captain's second at-bat - the instant jump to 'out' really takes away a lot of potential tension and undermines Yuki/Mei's battle. Obvioiusly, they don't have the air-time to give play a full rendition (and it probably wasn't in th manga either), but it's those sorts of shortcuts that bring the overall experience down. To balance out my negative: ending it on Furuya's hit was a nice touch, and I look forward to seeing how Tanba fares. |

Episode 53 Just calm down and and pitch, and you'll...Yeah! Or something! They gave up 2 runs to Inashiro and Ryo's injury resurfacing only makes matters worse for later, but hopefully Tanba can turn things around. |

Catch up time!! Episode 44 Nice to see Sawamura step up and shut them down!! A crossfire pitch is pretty uncommon and it was cool to see it make an appearance. Episode 45 & 46 Ah, the double edged sword that is the knuckleball. It can be one of the hardest pitches to hit or one of the easiest. It is hard for a pitcher to locate, so its usually just thrown over the plate. If the pitcher is locked-in and able to find that balance of speed and times the release correctly, it will move all over the place. It is impossible to read the break and it may break several times in different directions before it gets to the plate. A good knuckleball looks cartoonish in real life. It looks like the ball is defying the laws of physics, aerodynamics, and all other sciences :P. Even if you manage to hit it, its going to be a pop-up or a ground out almost every time. Its just that hard to hit cleanly. However, if just one finger pushes off out of synch or the pitch is thrown too fast or too slow, it won't knuckle. It'll just be a batting practice meatball right over the plate. Even poor hitters will be ripping the pitcher to shreds. Since a poorly executed knuckleball won't have much rotation on it anyway, it is easy to hit squarely. Even the best knuckleball pitcher in my lifetime, former major league pitcher Tim Wakefield, would have games where he would get ripped for 8 or 9 runs in a single inning. His next start, he may throw a 1 or 2 hitter all game. You just don't see many knuckleball pitchers on any level because the concentration and execution required to be successful with it is unreal. It takes so much practice and effort that most knuckleball pitchers only throw two pitches. A fastball to trick them and the knuckleball. The fastball is rarely thrown and used once the batter is "lulled to sleep" looking for the knuckler. Anyway, great episode and I'm sad to see Akira lose, but as Higashi stated, they lost that game before it had even began. Episode 47 Little Miyuki and Chris battling at an early age, eh? Pretty cool to see the flashbacks in preparation for the showdown to come. Episode 48 Ah, the build-up is getting intense!! Tanba breaking out the epic speech. And, uh oh, Ryousuke limping. I smell a Haruichi injury replacement coming! Episode 49 Good to see chubby-sama back. It may not hurt as much taking pitches off the fat, but repeated beams are going to take their toll for sure. Still a lot of build-up. I'm ready for the game to start! Episode 50 Now that was a great flashback episode. I loved seeing the third years as first years. Pretty cool to see the differences and where they started out. This was one of my favorite episodes in a while. Though, I'm hoping it is game time next episode!!! Episode 51 And the game begins. PLAY BALL!! Seido gets the early run with some small ball. Always great to see the realism in this series. Mei had a rocky start with the lead off walk and steal. He seems to be locked-in now though. I've got a feeling he is going to be tough to get anything going against from now on. Episode 52 I figured Mei was going to shut them down and get out of the inning after the single earned run. Furuya is blazing!! This is a pretty epic Ace showdown (even though Furuya isn't technically the Ace). I wonder how long they leave him in? I wouldn't take him out while he is pitching like this. Episode 53 Hmm, Inashiro's shortstop fielded the grounder hat-less, but then had his hat on trotting off the field. I'm going with, it fell off before he fielded the ball :P. Furuya cooled down in the 3rd here. I thought for a moment that the cleanup for Inashiro was going to hit a 2-run homer. They ended up pushing across the 2-runs anyway. Mei made a crucial base running mistake. You NEVER make the last out at 3rd base. If he just stays on 2nd base there, he is still in scoring position. Meaning, a standard base hit is going to score him anyway. You can't tag up with 2 outs, so getting to third is significantly less important in that situation. It was nice to see Furuya hitting a double and battling back from that rough inning. He is now in scoring position, so a base hit will most likely score him and tie the game. Lets see if someone can step up big!! |

Episode 54 Written as I go... - Can't say I agree with the coaches decision to sacrifice bunt the runner over to third when they already have one out. It does happen from time to time, but it is an extremely conservative move. In my opinion, it is never worth the out unless the pitcher is wild and you can maybe score on a passed ball/wild pitch. This clearly isn't the case in this situation. Unless the batter was extremely fast and tries to bunt for a hit. This seemed to be a straight sacrifice though. - Its Tanba time! - Uh-oh a hanging breaking ball is just a batting practice fastball. He launched it and made him pay. A hanger, meatball, etc is when you throw a breaking ball that doesn't break. Most of the time it happens due to an issue with the pitchers mechanics (not snapping/whipping the arm down precisely, over-striding, under-striding, etc) or if their grip on the ball slips. - Ah, the 'ol stiff upper body, eh? Figured it was a mechanics issue. - A double play would be nice right here... - They went for the sacrifice to move both runners in scoring position, good choice, but bad execution. If you bunt it too soft, it is an easy play for the catcher and he took out the lead runner. Now a double play gets them out of the inning. - Hmm, maybe that earlier homerun pitch wasn't a hanger, but a fastball out over the eart of the plate. Unless you throw in the very high 90s to 100+ (mph), you never want to throw a fastball in the "meat" of the plate. They are also considered, meatballs. - "That was some pitching..." Umm...lol, three walks and a 2-run homer is a terrible inning. Hopefully, getting out of that jam with a strikeout will help his confidence though. He struck him out on a check swing. A batter can stop his swing as long as the head of the bat doesn't completely cross the front of home plate. The home plate umpire either calls it a strike or says nothing (calls it a ball open for appeal). The catcher can then appeal to the 1st or 3rd base umpire (depending on the handedness of the batter). |

Figured I'd let you guys and gals know that the final game of the World Series for Major League Baseball (MLB) is being played tonight, Wednesday, at 8:00pm EST. The championship is a best of 7 series and the series is currently tied at 3 wins a piece. It should make for an exciting Game 7, so figured I'd let everyone know so they could watch it if they choose. One of the teams, the Royals, play a ton of "small ball" bunts, steals, sacrifices, etc. Seidou's style from this series reminds me a lot of how the Royals play. |

Episode 55 Tanba is getting into jams every inning. It is time to get him out of there and hand the reins over to Sawamura. They were lucky to get out of that inning without some extra damage. Also, Furuya is indeed a monster. That cannon for an arm was impressive and just by displaying that throw to home, it will make every runner hesitant to challenge him for an extra base. |

Episode 51 Good start for Seido, but as Yoshi mentioned Mei looks 'in the 'zone' right now so I imagine they will have to safeguard that 1 point lead with all they've got. Episode 52 Good job Furuya! Things are definitely looking too good for Seido though, I wonder when things will turn around. Episode 53 The backlash to Furuya letting a runner get on base was worse than expected but he managed to surprise me by getting on base at the end of the episode. Things could definitely get very exciting next episode! Episode 54 After a bumpy start Tanba finally managed to find his groove at the end. The main issue is still how to score against Mei though. Looking forward to seeing how that is gonna work. And Yoshi, what 2-run homer are you talking about? The homerun he scored off Tanba was just one run. Episode 55 [spoiler] Tanba s definitely getting himself in some tough situations but I'm also very worried about Ryu's injury. It already really impacted the game on multiple occasions in both offense and defensive and without it the score might look entirely different. I'm not sure he should still be out there considering that, even when he's a precious team member. |

We're pretty bad at this regularity thing, huh? No discipline. Seido would be ashamed. Episode 61 Some really nice stills there, and a few tiny snippets of sakuga, but it was a really impactful episode. Seems Eijun's broke a little, but it nicely adds to the tension and presumably sets up his development for the coming arc/matches. Hopefully his 'recovery' will be handled well. On a more positive note I'm really happy to see Kawakami getting his time to shine - and the very height of the match! I can only imagine how nice it would be to marathon through the whole match in one sitting. |

Episode 56 Well, Tanba really did kinda disappoint but that just makes me more sure they'll win this and give him another chance. At some point he needs to redeem himself. Sawamura definitely came in with a bang, looking forward to how far he can carry it. There's still the problem of offense though. Episode 57 It seems a bit late to realize that he's not at his best because of the injury but hopefully Haruichi can pull off something surprising at this point. Episode 58 Very intense episode, especially the showdown at the end. Unfortunately they started dragging it out at a little to end the episode on a cliffhanger. Episode 59 The pace of the show is slowing down considerably in these last innings but it was nice to see Sawamura be super reliable this inning, even his risky played turned out beneficial for the team. Btw I'll be seriously pissed if they drag it out with a flashback at this point, but I wouldn't put it past the show xD. Episode 60 Well, they did do the thing with the flashbacks but it could have been worse. Still, not that exciting of an episode compared to most of the previous ones. Looking forward to see how far Sawamura can go next episode. Episode 61 That was a sucky way for Sawamura to go out but as Ckan mentioned it provides nice fodder for future character development. And Seido doesn't have 4 pitchers just for fun so it's nice to see everyone of them get their turn. Though I'd lol if 'ace' Tanba ends up being the only one giving up any runs on their team. Episode 62 Oh shit. I can't say I never considered the possibility that they would lose and the show possibly progressing to the next year (a lot of the core cast are first and second years after all) but it's still surprising considering the flow of the game. And how they transitioned from all the hopeful talk to the losing pitch in the show made it even more impactful. Definitely a good way to end this match even though it's sad for Seido and especially the third years. |

Episode 66 The new assistant coach is pretty interesting and the atmosphere in the team and slowly getting to know some of the more promising first and second years is also fun. Definitely looking forward to the game next episode, and I wonder what kind of input the assistant coach will have for the team. Episode 67 Can't blame Fujita for wanting to pitch nine innings since Mei pulls it off so graciously. The match hasn't really started yet so next episode will be the real deal, I wonder how Seido'll hold up. Episode 68 [spoiler] Poor Eijun. It must be tough seeing Furuya shine like that even under pressure and when he's getting tired, especially since he's also growing to be an excellent batter. I love to see the small struggles/moments of brilliance of all the secondary cast members in the new team though. Build-up wise this is definitely looking to be aiming to be very long-running, I just hope it doesn't stay limited to the manga after the confirmed 75 episodes. |

Guess I will then. Ep 71 Yay Chris Senpai is back. Hopefully he can help cure Sawamura of the yips because it's starting to get pretty annoying now. I remember I had the same feeling during another show that involved yips, it was pretty annoying but the payoff at the end was well worthwhile, hopefully this can match. Once they finish the yips part I hope they continue on and use this tournament to expand some the new characters, we've barely got to know them and some of them seem interesting. |

Episode 69 That was tough to watch :( I wonder if/when Sawamura will get his shit together. Episode 70 I've seen the yips being part of a bunch of different sports series now and it's always among the more depressing parts of those shows, and this is no exception. Seeing how the other teams are doing fairly well and combined with the weak batter lineup of Seido things aren't looking all that great for now :/. Episode 71 [spoiler] I also hope this issue gets resolved soon, since this whole batch of episodes dealt with basically nothing else. But it's worth it for the return of Chris alone :>. And I'm optimistic about some of the other new characters being fleshed out as well in the future. |

EP 72 Why are they portraying the other coach in such a dark manner. It's like he's a super villain or something. Oh well, pretty interesting to see Fuyura to fail. Still waiting for Sawamura to get back on track, looks like it will be soon enough. Also, I think there was an Oofuri reference around the mid part of the episode, could have just been a coincidence though. Sawamura had the typical chicken face that Mihashi always has. Anyone else noticing a large quality drop in terms of animation, these last episodes look like trash. Maybe it's just the files I'm downloading. |

brianwuzhere said: No? I mean, Daiya's never had any high-end animation to begin with, but it's an overall consistent production. Fair enough, it's probable that I just tricked myself into remembering it having better animation than it did, because of the large break I had. Ep 73 Wow, that was a pretty good episode that came out of nowhere. It happened awfully fast as well, from discussing the idea to getting the game underway in just one episode, that's what I like to see. Good to see the third years fired up, hopefully this helps the team improve and I really hope that Sawamura gets back on track from this game. Will the coach really leave though? I do hope he stays. Ep 74 We're getting some damn good episodes now, it's about time too. Good to see the first and seconds years hitting their stride and Miyuki becoming a real captain. Season finished. Episode 75 That was a really nice send off for the 3rd years. Going to miss them, a lot.. especially Tetsu, he was my favorite. In terms of animation this was up there with the best, some of the scenes were rather well done. Good to see Sawamura back on track. Bring on the Fall Tournament!! Overall 7/10. Was a pretty enjoyable ride throughout, hit some bumps here and there but was never too predictable and kept me interested throughout the whole 75 episodes. Less than a year passed so I wonder how long they plan to keep this going, I wouldn't mind if it lasted a very long time. |

Episode 72 I wouldn't call the other coach a super villain, but he's definitely not as nice as Kataoka. He seems to value efficiency over anything else. I still think Kataoka will end up staying, but it would be interesting to see the team under that new coach as well. And I agree, seeing Furuya fail like that was interesting. He was getting too OP for not being the MC ^^. Episode 73 [spoiler] Yep, this was a very nice episode. The idea of the 'early retirement game' is pretty neat and so far the game has been great. Looking forward to how it will impact the new team. |

Episode 74 Very enjoyable episode. Lots of good moments on both sides and Chris as a pinch hitter is both awesome and surprising. Can't wait for the temporary finale! Episode 75 [spoiler] Agreed, it was a nice way to send off the third years and I'll definitely miss them too. I hope we get at least the occasional glimpse into what they're up to after high school. Fall tournament is looking to be pretty great, I'm glad there's barely any break before the next season starts. This gets 8/10 from me for being consistently enjoyable and for being one of the more realistic sports anime out there. Good stuff. |

Episodes 2.4 & 2.5 I'm glad the recaps are over now. And we get right into the action with a pretty intense game against a very strong team. That stuff about the depth of the strike zone was really interesting. On a sidenote I wonder where the 'intrigues' of the new coach are going to go. Will the old coach stay? Or will Sawamura & the team turn the new coach into a nicer guy? Episode 2.6 [spoiler] Finally it's time for Sawamura to outshine Furuya again. I'm really happy for him. Not that I dislike Furuya, I just find it easier to like the emotional/outgoing characters in shows like this. And since I recently watched School Rumble Furuya unpleasantly reminds me of Karasuma who I genuinely hated :>. In any case, you gotta love Sawamura's new 'relaxed face' pitching form xD.
