BBcode isn't disabled on your profile. Only on posts and comments.

Why can't we have it enabled for our posts ? it's kinda troublesome for the blogs :l

Because of the hacker issue I believe with MAL being ddoss'd by a random hacker. And also to prevent spam which happened on my profile with a really long picture which took a long time too delete.

The stats on your profile that say time spent watching, watching, completed, on hold, ptw, total entries. It's supposed to update within a couple of minutes of you updating your list, but for the last couple of months it only updates once a week. Sounds like this down time helped with the update time.

How much longer will BBCode keep being disabled? I mean, I'm well aware of the DDOS attacks and the assholes posting gore picks; but its been like a month now since BBCode has been down. Its kind of annoying not being able to post images/links etc :(.

Sorry for the rant, I love this site and I know the staff is swamped with work. Just a little irritated.

WOO HOO!!! Stats are updating at optimal speeds again, great work guys.

As for the BBCode, you got to think about something guys...

They could turn on the BBCode right now just like it was before, however this also means it would be just as easy for the hackers to come back and we will be at square one again and people will be scarred for life. Some of those images were truly horrific in the greatest sense of the words. I don't want to see those again and I wouldn't want any kids to see it either. (I have a younger cousin who uses the site, thankfully she didn't see any of it last time).

So the coding guys have an issue, how to make it easy as before for us users to put up images again while strengthing the firewalls, security, coding, etc so that nightmare doesn't happen again.

cut them some slack guys, the people working on this site are doing it on their free time. This isn't their day job that pays the bills. I know what its like because I've done stuff on a few websites myself. Site runners, coders, and mods take way too much flak and grief from users. It happens on every website.

So for all those who think tl;dr... just chill out and relax, its not the end of the world.

Why don't they just MAC ban anyone who posts those images? I didn't see what images you're actually talking about but I'm not sure how they would actually prevent them other then proactive members reporting the images and getting that user banned. Now banning a IP is simple enough, but it is just as simple to change your IP and create a new user. MAC address changes are a bit more complicated and it would prevent a lot of those images from being posted.

Just my thoughts.

IP ban wasn't enough, the hacker had dynamic IP's and was able to DDoS the site for a good while. Now I don't know enough about MAC bans to know if it would have helped or not.

As long as the MAC address to the NIC card is banned, doesnt matter what IP address they would have it would still not allow them to access the site. The MAC address is coded directly into the NIC card so its a lot more complicated then a IP config or static IP.

Not really.

Some of the newer ones don't allow you to change them threw the properties, but meh.
