Maybe a little bit off-topic, but what's with video game companies and catering to dubs these days? Star Ocean 4 is coming out without an option for the Japanese voice track, and no sign of it becoming downloadable content in the future.
Sawashiro Miyuki (Shinku, Aruru, etc) has a role in the game, but we'll probably never get to hear it because Squeenix decided that they want to give us dubs instead.

I applaud companies like Sega and Namco-Bandai who put out dual audio in their games (Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal Sonata).

I know we're the vocal minority, and most people want to hear the game in their native language, but is it really too much to ask for a game as close to its original vision as we can get? You lose nuance when you take away the Japanese. Sure, it probably costs money for royalties, but I'd gladly pay 5 bucks for downloadable voices, as long as I don't have to listen to horrible English voice actors.

Thoughts, opinions?

I completely agree with you.
I am tired of hearing awful dubs as well.

It was understandable when they took out the original voice track for ps2 games when there weren't enough disc space but with blu-ray disc space is no longer a problem...
Foreign language movies released always have the option for original voice tracks... why can't that be the standard for games as well?
I'd gladly pay for the download as well.

Dubs are one of the reasons I stopped playing the japanese RPG genre in general
I mean dubs suck I'll second that, but videogame-dubs are really fucked up

I just heard the wonderfull original voice cast of FF XIII a while ago, putting their heart and soul into it...
knowing that in a few months I'm gonna hear the english dubs rape it and throw it in the gutter, pisses me off big time.

I don't know what it is about Japanese voice coaching that makes stuff produced in Japan have better voice acting. I prefer subs of games, but then you have stuff like the Devil May Cry series which is made in Japan in English. I actually enjoy the Devil May Cry "dubbed" voice acting! Still, I looked all over for the "original Japanese" of DMC only to find out there is none. Weird, huh? Incidentally, the DMC anime is the only anime I watch in the English dub, since it has Dante's original DMC3 voice actor (Reuben Langdon).
