Nvm I just just watched the ending a second time and he is bleeding when they are on the horse so he is definetly dead :/

He probably died. Their final dialogue seemed to be building up to it. And it's an ending that I personally would like to see.
But if he lived, it's fine too. Less impactant but still enjoyable.

Well, to me it didn't seem like Nanashi died in the end. Here are the reasons:

-He was still standing after his fight with Luo-Lang, hinting that his injuries weren't grave.

-After the broken jade fell to the ground there was just a drop of blood that fell on it showing that it was a minor cut. (We saw rather more blood poring from the cut on his leg, still he was running and jumping quite well). Moreover there wasn't blood on Luo-Lang's sword, whereas Nanashi's sword was dripped in blood.

-He's leaning on Kotaro because he's injured and tired, not because he's dying.

-There's no point in showing a scene where a jade saved his life if he were to die in the end.

-He had experienced worse injuries before and survived, as seen from the scars on his back and torso.

-It wasn't a Kotaro's sad expression which he showed only for a moment. I think he was overwhelmed because this time Nanashi was relying on him, not the other way around. Plus there was a determined look on his face later. If he knew Nanashi would die he would have atleast shed a tear/or have teary eyes.

-Plus Nanashi was still awake after a long ride, a fatal injury would've killed him by now. Or atleast he wouldn't be conscious if the blood loss was serious.

Such ambiguous ending, he said before battle begins "pain make me feel like I'm more alive" kinda what does that mean?

I, personally, would say that he died. It looked like Kotaro knew that Nanashi was about to die. I'd like to think that, that was the reason he told him his plans about their future. Moreover, I think the ending scenes are more powerful if you suppose that he died after that.

He certainly did not die in the end. He himself said that whatever that thingy Kotaro gave him actually came in handy. It was pretty much self-explanatory.

What! just saw the movie why would nanashi die? I think people are reading too much into it.
The green stone broke when the villan slashed nanashi in the end. If nanashi died than that entire plot point involving green stone would be useless.
Ofcourse nanashi is sumwhat injured but I don't think its life threatening.

After reading comment it feels like people want him to die...sigh...most of the explanations feels like fan theories rather actual reason
