It was announced that manga "Initial D" will have a final TV anime season and an anime movie adaptation. The TV series will be named "Final Stage" and it will cover the Kanagawa match. This final battle in the Kanto Region pits Fujiwara Takumi against Inui Shinji, who will also drive an Toyota AE86 like Fujiwara. The broadcast schedule is not yet known; however, the new movie is due for theater release in Summer 2014.

Initial D has been running for 18 years in Shuukan Young Magazine and was previously announced to end this month. Since 1995, 46 volumes of the manga have been published. Including the first TV anime adaptation in 1998, 5 seasons, 5 OVAs, 1 anime movie, and 1 live-action movie have also been made. The fifth season completed broadcasting this May.

Initial D Final Stage & Initial D Final Stage Movie on MAL
Modified by Naruleach, 02-04-14, 8:05 PM
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Man! I wish all long running manga and light novel series could get complete anime coverage like Initial D! (I'm looking at you, Ah! My Goddess!, Full Metal Panic!, and Spice and Wolf...)

Ugh, another long and terrible wait to see the episodes though I bet. I really dislike the usual airing format for Initial D.

I agree with this very fine person here.. If people read it and love the story why the hell would you want to make an anime adaptation of it and not follow the original story -.-

+1

And goddamn, 5 seasons, 5 OVA's, 1 anime movie, and 1 live-action movie... I never knew Initial D was nearly this popular.
Anime fucking sucks.

So the TV series might start later this year or early next year? YAY!

So the movie is original story? Or is the actual finale a movie?

Should get down to reading the manga soon. Where does the 4th season stop?

That would be awesome.

As for this news, good for the fans. However, after I TRIED to like it after 5 or 6 episodes, but it just wasn't for me. The races are nice, but the characters made it difficult for me to like it.
