Anyone else feels like the anime is too bright for its plot?

Plot- there is a bunch of psychotic serial killers, when their children/grandchildren/grand grandchildren get their hands on weapons that they use they get the urge to kill with that weapon that also gives them supernatural abilities. All of them want to kill the main heroine because it will grant them any wish because of her curse. The protagonist is protecting her and he also has one of thouse weapons and his grand grand grand father was a most brutal serial killer who killed more than 200 people.

Anime -

Something just doesn't mix hire?

Yeah, i got the same feeling, the anime never wants to go too dark despite having a plot made to be dark. The MC never kills anyone, the sisters, the killer kid, and the sadist joined or stopped attacking the main duo. The closest they got was when the MC had that beast-like incident, but he still didn't kill anybody.

Though, this is pretty common in anime in general, "heroic"(stupid) MC who doesn't want to kill someone who clearly deserves to die, these idiotic actions never backfire, and everything ends cleanly.

I never got why animes have such an obsession with these types of characters(excluding a few, obviously).

I haven't watched the anime, but i just happen to read the manga.I can say it's really surprising how the style in the anime is way too different than in the manga.

It looks like the style in the anime is too mainstream, yet in the manga it's like it's made for this kind of genre.
Characters filled with bloodlust in the manga , looks like some slice of life characters in the anime .-.
