Beautiful episode :*)

Damn ALS it was...why didn't I think about that?! I'm a failure as a medical student :P

Poor Mutta getting that bad on the test. But I'm sure he'll do really well to make up for it in action :D Especially with the old man :) He should give him a few hints.

Loved the scene at the table with Serika. She promised Sharon to make a treatment and Mutta promised to build the telescope. Both of them have huge pressure inducing promises. But they will definitely push them further ^^

The last scene was really nice. After Mutta read the message...I knew he'll answer with "It's a piece of cake!" And he did but it gave me goosebumps. Brilliant execution :D

Hopefully Mutta's optimism will keep increasing. His self-degradation the only thing holding his potential back!

Not to sound like a jerk but I kind of hope she doesn't make a treatment for Sharon. That would too good and would take away the little realism this Anime has.

-Good episode. Hopefully Mutta will gain some more confidence now and push himself harder towards his current goal.

I was on the verge of tears through this entire episode, and it's amazing how they took that simple phrase and made it so powerful.

One of my favourite shows ever.
Check out my eurobeat guide. Who knows, you might find yourself a new favourite genre!

Great episode as always. Why did it end so fast? Another week of waiting to take a great delight from such an awesome anime.
I was about to start crying when I heard about Sharon's disease. Don't know whether she'll die or not in the end, but hopefully she'll see Mutta's space mission.
Good luck for Mutta and Serika! I'm impatient to see Mutta's full potential.

Man. Didn't someone call ALS on last weeks discussion. I hear it's a pretty slow painful '7 sad way to go. Prisoner of your own body.

Only thing is Mutta said he lied to cheer he up. I think if he wanted REAL pressure he would of said that he really wanted to make it come true.

As for Serika. She's no longer a research doctor due to training. Even when she does get to space it'll be too late for Sharon. But I'm gonna call it right now. When the show final episode runs in the epilogue Serika develops a treatment. Not a cure.

Good show, but again the arc ran too fast. One..... maybe two more episodes to bring the feels.

Serika will probably develop a treatment... but I think Sharon will still die, perhaps before Serika even gets the chance. As much as I tear over all this, I still hope Sharon passes.

Definitely good for Mutta's development. Not so much his test scores though. But like Hibito said, the test scores aren't as important.

This series always brightens up my Saturdays, loved how Mutta and Sharon were both thinking about "It's a piece of cake" at the end. I can't help but find something to make me smile each episode.

Still, knowing that Sharon really got a disease like ALS is sad. At least, they are positive, I admire that!

And I can't wait for the next episode! The old man is an interesting one! Mutta may got some luck on his side again :)

Anyway, I'm sorry for Sharon, but she has to die for Mutta's sake and his future development.

This show is just so damn good.

As much as I'm pulling for Mutta and Serika to accomplish their goals before Sharon passes, I doubt it will happen. If it does, it would give me the happy feels.

Seeing them holding onto these dreams no matter how slim the chances of success was a beautiful kind of sadness. Sharon is so strong, trying not to show her own worries. I loved how they handled that piece of cake line.

This episode was really beautiful and really touching, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't crying through the whole episode.

I can't even pick a favourite scene or moment this episode because all of it was so realistic (sometimes heartbreakingly so) and well done as always.

I'm really routing for Serika and Mutta to reach their goals before it's too late for Sharon, but the better part of me doubts it'll happen. But as long as they're optimistic I want to be too!

Watching the stuff about ALS made me think of Terry Pratchett's 'Choosing to Die' and the guy with motor neurone disease... and then I found out they're the same disease... oh god.

I teared up so much when Serika visited Sharon. :<<<

The guy who comes up with the titles of the episodes is a genius, i love the way it's heavily referenced in an episode, that ending left me with a big smile on my face.

As for the people saying Sharon will die, don't forget Serika says the diseases progression varies from person to person and in some cases it may take up to 10 years before a person dies, if she lasts that long who knows what developments in medicine could occur.

When Mutta send Sharon that text at the end, I immediately knew it'd say "it's a piece of cake" and started crying for 10 minutes straight.

I at least hope that she'll be able to see a picture by the moon-telescope before she dies. I don't think it's feasible that Serika will be able to develop a cure in time, maybe she can at most extend Sharon's life.

Aww wow, what a touching episode D: So Sharon has ALS after all ... it was really nice to see everyone supporting her though. She's going to go back and keep on working like Serika's dad - I loved how at the end she said she was going to help cure her! :O Plus then Mutta helping to build the telescope ... gosh :')
It seems like at the end written scores don't count for that much, because I'm guessing Hibito meant he didn't do so hot on them either XD Next episode looks so awesome with that old guy again and FLYING THE PLANES!!! Can't wait :D

This was so beautiful....I cried. Uchuu Kyoudai makes the best out of every situation; I love that so much about it. You can really learn a lot. Most animes do that whole 'wallowing in sadness', but how Uchuu Kyoudai develops scenarios like these is so refreshing and uplifting.

I've never known someone close to me who had ALS, but now I know what a terrible disease it is. I really hope nobody I know has to go through that, ever.

5/5, hands down.

Loving everything from Space Brothers so far this was really heartbreaking to see Sharon getting the disease
I looked up the date of publishing of the first manga which was back in 2007 and this was aired last year before the ALS ice bucket challenge awareness started this Summer
The author was so ahead of time with this a story involving Serika and his father as well

It's a "piece of cake" is a brilliant title for what has been shown

The only thing I found done better on the dub was the comforting words coming from Serika to Sharon at the end of episode 63 and repeated at the start of 64 instead of
"I'll accompany you" Not sure if the translation from Japanese was that accurate though

I was sobbing throughout part of this episode. It just really hit home. I don't want to lose anyone close to me like this. We all have to leave eventually but I'm not ready to say goodbye to everyone yet. The airport scene really teared me up... I think the boys were nervous they might never see her again... ;__;

Episode 64 - Piece of Cake:

"I'm a useless person who always fails during crunch time." == "It's a piece of cake"

Mutta promises Sharon being one of the astronauts to build a telescope on the moon and Serika promises Sharon to develop a medicine to treat ALS disease.
