| This episode probably ruined my enjoyment of this series and anything to follow in this arc. The power scaling is messed up. I understand the way these ants reproduce so it would make sense if later on we got OP ants which fused with nen humans but a normal grunt withstanding gon's and killua's attack is plain stupid. We are told earlier that basically no matter how good or strong you are if you're against a nen user, you're pretty much done instantly just by the pressure of it, the forceful initiation is considered very taxing, but this ant was fricking hit by gon's and killua's top moves which would be instant death. There may be an argument that they're ants but if you wanna get sciency about it weight increases by the cube but strength by around a square their normal unspecialized punches brake concrete we're not gonna get too technical but thats in the tonnes of force, gon's super punch when hitting a ball went through a meter of concrete after most of its power was absorbed we can assume thats in the 100s or 1000s of tonnes without nen abilities which the ant didn't have then pretty much nothing would stop him getting crushed by that one hit even if his exoskeleton scaled perfectly. Of course this is fiction but this defies reality to absurdity. Like gon and killua are pretty OP already above most nen users as shown in greed island, they should be able to decimate the ants with little problem until they reproduce with nen and even then the weak user they managed to kill wouldn't give them enough nen abilities to be able to withstand those two, it should have been gradual but this just felt like we are back at stage one and gon and killua are weak and feeble again which honestly gets plain annoying in most of those shonens. When a character becomes OP there should be another one as justifiably OP like the phantom troupe felt far more believable as they you know have YEARS of fighting experience, I don't care how quick something evolves gon and killua are perfect examples of quick evaluation, they're prodigies yet they still can't get better until fighting stronger and stronger opponent's because guess what no matter the raw power and potential training is king you learn, adapt, improvise and overcome the first ant we met here has had 0 fighting experience against a powerful opponent. |
