According to Monthly Young Ace magazine June issue, Sadamoto Yoshiyuki's manga "Neon Genesis Evangelion" was announced to end by the next chapter, Stage 95. The manga has been serialized first on Monthly Shone Ace and later on Young Ace magazines since 1994.

I haven't read the manga in awhile but this is my first post here. To clarify on the differences with the anime and the manga, overall its the same outcome in almost every scenario. However the execution to these scenes, many of them are different. You can say some differences but its more like many different interpretations, angles, etc, so yes it would be more of an alternate universe compared to the anime.

Character wise and development, well the Shinji of the manga has a more assertive, if not aggressive than his whiny anime counterpart. Rei has some more human qualities in personality. And Asuka at times gets along with Shinji better in some scenes. If I remember correctly the manga uses less philosophical and paces a bit more like a regular manga way of tellling a story.

Main differences will probably be less angels but with more alternate surprises of action (I won't spoil the surprises, its still the same action like anime but with just a few surprises), or some small differences like Asuka being introduced in the arcades instead of on the ship.

For my own thoughts, there are many parts I do prefer in the manga than in the original anime, or even in some cases parts I even prefer compared to the first 2 Rebuild movies.

The ending of Evangelion episode 26 did talk about different interpretations of how to tell the same series and have a different take of an ending, so the manga would be an alternative, much like others like End of Evangelion, Rebuild, Angelic Days, etc...

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.
