| It is because it has some great animation, a storyline of epic proportions, some genuine emotional moments on Nami joining Shiki, a crazy and funny setting (best intro ever) and amazing action scenes. And the cover-like image of gangsta Straw Hats. On the other hand, though, the villain's motivations are so damn stupid. I am fonder of simpler, more coherent earlier One Piece movies. |

I seriously don't think this movie was rated higher because it was scripted by Oda himself, but because it fit in with the background of One Piece unlike the previous movies that are basically fillers and it definitely something Luffy would fight for, on top of that the animation the story line everything was amazing. |

This. OP's opinion is that it's on par with Naruto filler. My opinion is that it's on par with anything One Piece series has put out (bar the filler). The fact that the movie was relevant with the actual One Piece storyline just makes the movie as a whole feel so much more relevant to the series unlike all the other One Piece movies. |
| The animation was average TBH with a lot of scenes where the CGI separated itself style wise way to much from the animation, and then there were also a lot of scenes where they cut down on detail way to much. Ex of the two things http://i.imgbox.com/hO5z8CDZ.png http://i.imgbox.com/s6RCisZk.png yes it also had a lot of good animated background, but when they don't stay consistent in quality it doesn't deserved to be called awesome animation wise, when it simply wasn't. You can feel in a good way that Oda was in over it, but it also showed that in a negative way in how he isn't good at telling a short story, which made it seem a bit to rushed. Fanboys have affected the rating a lot, and given it much higher rating than it deserve. |
