Photo-senso thing !?

In the beginning of ep. 2, asumi tells lori that doctors had said that eri is unconscious because of the photo-senso thing and she would be fine within hours. But it took her days to recover. I mean doctors couldnt have been so wrong. On top of that, I thought data drain causes coma rather than that photo thing. I am kinda confused here. Please help me out.
