Is it possible for outsiders to contribute other genres to this list?Unfortunately I have never used git and stuff like that.

Is that javascript?or what code language?

If possible I would like to have achievements for 10-20 genres. With genres like shounen ai & yaoi(eww :P) combined into one and the genres shoujo ai & yuri(nice:P) also combined into one.

Well I am a yuri shipper.

Thought there was a hentai achievement too. You should do more achievements.

The other topic is locked, but I have a few ideas for achievements, so I'll just post them here I guess:

1. Some sort of achievement like the above poster mentioned for watching a lot of hentai would be funny. It could be the same as the other genre achievements.

2. Something that comments on how many hours/days/etc of anime you've watched, versus how many titles you've completed. Like, I have an achievement for having completed 500 titles, but I've only seen 70-something days of anime, whereas other people may have watched over 100 days of anime without completing more than 300 shows.

3. Maybe an achievement for watching lots of older anime? There's one for watching lots of anime from the "historical" genre, i.e. anime that take place in the past, but nothing for anime that were actually produced in decades long past.

4. An achievement for watching a lot of "bad" shows with mean scores below, say, 5.0 could be funny. You know, Mars of Destruction and the like.

5. Maybe achievements for having never dropped anything and/or for having dropped a ton of things.

More 'exclusive' ones like the Boku no Pico achievement would be cool too, one for watching every Anime Mirai entry for example. It'd have to be updated every year, though.

How is that an achievement? That's just an observation.

How is watching every Anime Mirai an achievement?

When I think of achievements, I think of something where you ACHIEVE something big, something like an "Animage top 100 anime achievement", that would be rewarded when you watch EVERY anime in the Animage top 100 list, that includes anime from 1943 all the way to 2000. THAT's what I would call an ACHIEVEMENT, not watching some short animations.

In my opinion Mai-Hime (http://myanimelist.net/anime/98/Mai-HiME), Mai-Otome (http://myanimelist.net/anime/99/Mai-Otome) and Vividred Operation (http://myanimelist.net/anime/14283/Vividred_Operation) should be part of the Mahou Shoujo achievement

The following two titles belong in the Mahou Shoujo manga achievement category, and are currently missing from the list:

http://myanimelist.net/manga/44319/Mahou_Shoujo_Madoka%E2%98%85Magica:_The_Different_Story

And a couple that belong in the Mahou Shoujo anime achievement category, and are currently missing from the list:

Edited to add the anime ones so as not to spam up the thread with a new reply.

I wanted to ask for ol' good shounen and shoujo achievements, but then again I remembered majority of the first ones are not finished. So maybe a milestone for hundred or two hundred episodes for long-runners?
Other than that, I would like to propose "franchise fan" achievements if you ever think about expanding this option. Also opting for yuri, yaoi and hentai for variety ^^ and majority of TaquishaJohnson's proposals are cool too.

We need one for those that review a lot I think. Like if someone reviews almost every anime they see or something. I know I would get it because I do that but other's might be interested in something like that to. It would get more people writing I would hope.

Yes! Precure 5 Movie is missing from the mahou shoujo achievement list:
http://myanimelist.net/anime/3051/Yes!_Pretty_Cure_5_Movie:_Kagami_no_Kuni_no_Miracle_Daibouken!/

And shouldn't Tonde Buurin also be classified as mahou shoujo and make it to the achievement list?

THAT's what I would call an ACHIEVEMENT, not watching some short animations.

By that reasoning, none of the current achievements are achievements. Especially the Boku no Pico achievement is even easier, and the genre-specific ones just 'happen', it's not like you hunt for them, they are just there to show what you watch. I can't think of any game or website with just achievements you have to specifically invest a lot of time in to get.

I'll go a little off the MALgraph topic here, but there are achievements like that some games. For example, in Psychonauts there's a turtle that you have to carry for about ten meters, but if you take your time and walk to the very first location in the game and show the turtle to every kid there, you get an achievement. There's no way anyone would do that without prior knowledge. In Sanctum (FPS+tower defense), if you ignore enemies and look for tiny fish hidden in various places, you get a badge. There are quite a few ones like this in Sanctum, by the way. You get an achievement for holding a garden gnome through most of Half Life 2 ep 2 and sending him into space. So yeah, there are achievements you need to invest your time for.

But the achievement is only awarded if you watch at least three out of the four Boku no Pico titles. Only one is PG-rated iirc.

If I'm reading that one right, the newest Makoto's Shinkai production, Kotonoha no Niwa, is missing from the list (in the Slice of Life category).

But not ALL achievements in those games are like that, are they? (I said 'with JUST achievements') I was just trying to say that although it's fine to have some achievements like that, it's not like it's not achievement worthy anymore if it isn't an achievement like that.

Why is Chuunibyou: Depth of Field a slice of life but not mecha? I know they just made it up, but most of the time it shows the battle between the two giant robots. Or does that not count?

So here is a straight up question... I looked over the xml list for the achievements and was looking over some of the titles and I noticed there were tons of titles not listed... one that caught my eye was that the Mahou Shoujo category was missing titles such as: Mahou Shojo Ai, Mahou Shojo Ai San, Mahou Shojo Erena, Mahou Shojo Isuka, Mahou Shojo Meruru and Mahou Shojo Sae.... so here is the question" are these titles not included in the list because A) You don't know about them? B) You know, but have not gotten around to them? or C) not included because they are Rx rated items?

Also, if the XML is correct, you only have 18 Mech titles listed... is that correct?

I think we really need one for those that watch Popee the Performer. If you actually finish that show, you should be rewarded so much.

A - I don't know about them. I know there are some missing and will add them in the future.

fatmacman said:

Correct, but these are mecha series that MAL doesn't have tagged as mecha. The rest is automatically generated from MAL tags.

It's hard to spot in this file, but there's a small difference between some groups: if you compare groups that have strictly defined titles, they are "given-titles" (e.g. Boku no Pico). If there are a few defined titles AND the rest of them is auto-generated, the group is "genre-titles" and has an additional genre ID (e.g. mecha).

In other words, if a group has very few titles but high thresholds, then it's automatically generated from MAL's genres.

How about a achievement for reading a lot of one shots? There are so many one shots out there and if someone reads a lot of them, they should get a achievement for that.

I feel that there aren't enough manga achievements. There are definite genres that stand out as having more manga than anime, like how you included mystery.

May I suggest a horror manga achievement?

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but...

I second that, if we can make suggestions! Horror anime and horror manga.

Some titles that come to mind are the whole Higurashi franchise, Another and Gyo.

----

Also, while we're at it, I think there should be a Seinen manga achievement. These aren't as common as shonen titles, so it's quite an achievement (duh) when people go and read those ones.

EDIT: Hi! Btw
