Episode 12: “Waiting in Space”

After 12 episodes of Saji's personal problems bringing Gundam 00 down to shit tier, it looks like the focus will finally go back to the story and characters that matter.

Maybe Gundam 00 will start being good again.

winners and losers. and this episode has tons of losers.

sajixlouise=this relationship is deeper than space. win

setsuna getting pacquiao'd=win

00 raizer=lose, too powerful. H45xors are bad.

louise's melancholy state=amazing, so believable.

lu mei as sex slave=lose, how low is she going to go just to get killed off

memento mori being used way too often=lose wtf?

andrei as louise's bitch=lose, and this is the junior bear.

patrick cameo=lose, die already

seravee as a useless blob floating in space as a distraction to the enemies=lose, give the machine something else to do other than sitting on it's ass with the barrier on the whole damn time

hints of lockon 2 getting killed off=lose, why make it more obvious than it is

alle, where's that guy?

biggest winner ever is, again.....

ALLELUJAH'S IRRELEVANCE TO THIS EPISODE.

He did went to escort the transport vessels from the beginning of the battle in episode 11. That's where he is, as you were asking.

Despite the fact that 00 is overpowered, I liked this episode.

Important points:

- Saji's and Louise's take on their feelings was portrayed realistically.

- I see no reason to hate Saji - he is practically what Setsuna was the entire last season. He blieves in certain things, acts rashly and on impulse and thinks that others won't understand him. Setsuna did exactly the same, till the bigger problems forced him to grow up a bit.

- 00 is HAX although the portrayal of its powers fits its description. Its a suit which goes against the laws of physics and common sense and, most likely is meant for something more than just being the hax weapon.

- Cybernetic arms seem to be quite strong thing. Getting Battlestar Galactica flashbacks there, with Louise.

Holy **** not only 00 can telepatically enhance Setsuna, it can dematerialize and rematerialize... I think this is a first in the Gundam Universe....

So...00 Gundam along with its pilots fully transformed into GN Particles...I already imagine Ptoleimaios teleporting away from a deadly blast from Memento Mori in the future....

And now the other innovators know that Ribbons doesn't know as much as he brags...I wonder if this will cause Dissenssion within the Innovators...

And the Federation government are really jerks, firing Memento Mori like a toy... Personally, I would not let them nor the Innovators lead humanity. They don't even have compassion and they don't care about civilians. Any government or peace formed by that are no more than a dystopia....The so called "unity" and "peace" is meaningless if the leaders consider human lifes are merely numbers in a game....Adn no matter how peaceful it is, if the government treats civilian like shit....there will always be rebellion and resistance... Just watch LOGH (Legend of the Galactic Heroes) to figure out....

Saji is also slowly growing up...

at least Saji realized what he'd be doing this time if he left. come on saji be a man. someone other than setsuna needs to lay it on him.

oh and the best part was Ribbons smacking Wang Liu Mei, if anyone deserved it, it was her. Ribbons still needs more of a personality though as well as the other innovators. it was good to see the 00 do some ownage for once, but the others are useless now.

00 is just way too powerful. I'm hoping they tone it down a bit in the future, because it's just way too much.

And yeah, the focus on Saji and Louise isn't too bad for me, but I do hope it gets back to the more important characters.

Finally, I do like the Ribbons slap, but it's still no match for the Bright slap.

Overall, I think the series is kinda starting to go downhill, but I hope it will get better.

Saji is growing a little slowly, but I think that him not taking off again was a big change. We will probably see him start to figure things out and become important to keeping everyone focused on their original goal of peace. He will probably win over Louise again too.

Only the middle of the season, so things are still being set up, but I am sure the next episode will be a big one. I think it is sweet that 00 dominates. They will finally quit getting beat downs. I am sure the mega-GN particles also play a part in setting up a new peaceful future, and they will continue to have these psychic moments.

the innovator lookalike with the celestial beings is still bugging me. i got a feeling she is like tierria who doesnt know she is an innovator.. just a guess.. i don get why u don like the overpowered 00.. i mean this whole series IS entitled gundam 00 so isnt it obvious in the end its 00 who will stand?? nice slap by ribbons.. so its pretty clear that ribbons and gang arent the ppl who will carry out aeolia schenburg's plan cause they don know every inch of everything.. if they were really the good guys means ribbons would have known anything regarding CB and would be able to finish them in 1 go but he failed like 3 times?? i thought about it and i think aeolia probably had a rival or some enemy who wanted to change and manipulate aeolia's plan by creating the innovators..

I really doubt its actually dematerializing and materializing (even though ribbons says that) probably something similar to bleachs shinigami step thing.

And surely you have to love the gundams getting their ownback on the A-laws with their godly hax 00. Just wondering tho (PM ME IF U KNOW THE ANSWER) how come only exia is equiped with the twin drive system?

No. It's really materializing and dematerializing as you can see the gundam becoming GNP

Twin drive system ONLY works when the two GN Drive have a compatibility high enough. And only Exia's and 0 Gundam's have the highest compatibilty (only 70% I think?)

I thought it was an illusion made of GN particles. Actual dematerialisation just pushes it too far beyond Hax for me.

After the second disappearance you can see how 00 "forms" from GN Particles. Ribbons references to it as "quantization" , which, going with simple-speech, is basically a process of object dissolving into particles and/or reforming/being-formed from them.

Its clearly a teleportation, in a way of 00 dematerializing and materializing somewhere else. ;)

From the last season, I know that Saji will play one of the main role, and I know exactly that he will join CB. But at first I thought he will replace Lockon, but apparently that's not the case. I like his character development anyway.

But I agree that 'quantization' of a huge mass like Gundam 00 is a total letdown in a Gundam Universe ... An overpowered Gundam is a bulls***. I hope 00 won't go to the same mistake like SEED Destiny with Kira's immortal mode, or this will be another lame Gundam series ...

The best episode in second season, IMO (unless you watch a series for a certain reason rather then just to watch the story for itself). Only few series manage to make relationships like SajixLouise so realistic and deep. Even I become sad whem I remember those two in Season 1... and I certanly can't believe that Louise was once so cheerful and energetic.

When Saji jumped into 00 Raiser, I thought "The idiot is gonna repeat the same mistake...". I was pleasantly suprised when I saw that he came to his sense. And once again, his wish to go away to Louise and staying there was potrayed realisticaly.

And Ribbons shocked was the greatest thing in entire series until now. It is always a pleasure to see arrogant guys make such a face.

Action was superb as ever.

the action in the episode was decent but a tad bit underwhelming (not quite to par with episode 7 of a certain "other" mecha franchise that aired this year.) with the absence of Hallelujah (again. Just a little bit of action would have been nice).

the new hax feature of the 00-Raiser is a blow to the series, something that is incredibly far-fetched (IMO, even if this is a Gundam series). If this continues for the duration of the series, I might have to put my suspended-disbelief cap on (which has been gathering dust since TTGL finished airing).

OK, now I really hate Saji. He is so annoying. I really hope someone kills him (preferably Louise, I like her character(unlike everyone else :)).
But...I somehow think he will survive, Louise will realise her mistake, and they will live happily ever after.
Also, 4on4 battle innovators vs gundams?
My only hope if that happens is to see Halle...Also, Setsuna finally owned someone, but in 2-3 episodes I predict him getting owned again(such a strong gundam, such a bad pilot).

btw @avarice - is that picture from berserk manga? Looks like it :)

Much better than he last episode but it's still not up to previous episodes for sure. Some interesting developments and scenes, but overall, it could be much better if there was less Louise and Saji and more focus on what's really important (and a more consistent animation of course, it was clear that this one was rushed). However, it's much better than what I expected in the beginning of the season (and what we had in the first episodes of the season by the way).

Yes, it is within the bounds of Sci-Fi territory but this is Gundam, so far, teleportation has been unprecedented (from those I've seen anyway), and the 00-Raiser is just completely over-the-top, IMO. I guess this new development completely blindsided me since I did not expect it, or want even.

but it actually fills in the loophole of Aeolia's plan.... Before it showed off its abilities, we didn't know exactly HOW CB is going to eradicate war... Now we know it will be through GN Particles from the Twin Drive....

Well, how else do you see CB winning against A-Laws that have 100x more firepower, manpower and upgrade their suits every 3 episodes?
