End of the 2-parter Evu: it was really action packed, with a nice direction. The interplay between the police and the military gave out a complex vibe somehow similar to GitS. The various point of views -- Gouto, Izumi, Oota, the hostages, the vilains -- also allowed an interesting flowing of the story. Not sure about the grandmother plot, but I guess it adds a layer of personal/contextual (Xmas).

On a side note, I thought Evu looked like a blend of Eva 01 and Sachiel. The name, the face, the color, how the shoulders developed, how it used energy weapons. We might have a reasonable source of the design right here.

Still don't really see the point of the whole grandmother thing. Also like how everyone was just taken hostage, these were some pretty soft bad guys.

Well they couldn't possibly kill them. They were just there to test the experimental Labor and gather data. Those who got involved had to be captured and placed somewhere they can't get out from until their operation finishes. As Gotou said, THEY REALLY ARE GOOD. And as always, Gotou makes the episode MUCH better.

Ota's back, and I'm starting to get REALLY fucking annoyed. This is the first time in quite a while I'm getting this irritated at ONE goddamn character, just ONE fucking asshole in an anime I'm getting into.

She's a grandma. Let her do what she wants. Though I would've REALLY preferred if the episode didn't involve Labors for once. I thought it was going to be something that would go more in-depth with the characters' lives.

The action was awkward. While these people are talking on the ground, we have these A.I. military Labors just standing still. But overall, that was a nice side to Patlabor. Just gotta love these Christmas episodes with snow in the night.

Yeah, definitely the most interesting episode so far, even tho I expected more of the grandmother plot. Still could make up for it with great directing of the emotional part.

That commander of the Phantom force was doing a somewhat decent Gendo impersonation.

Preferring self-destruction to retreat was another great Ota being Ota moment. Fuwa in that helm with that logo looked very much like Imperial Guard from Warhammer 40.000, lol. But the military was there just to perform recon? Insert "my job here is done" Sailor Moon screenshot here because that's the impression their inclusion in this whole story gave me.

The grandmother story felt very B plot to the A plot of the double episode rather than something strongly connected. Enjoyed it though.
