I bet the Professor was Shiny Chariot. XP This is like Akazukin Chacha in Harry Potter's world or something. LOL 7/10

Like others said, it wasn't exactly original, but the execution was flawless.

It was very enjoyable for me. I would watch a proper series if it's ever made.

beautiful. i don't know why but when i was watching this, i felt like i was watching a ghibli movie XD

The characters were likable, i was surprised that Diana felt responsible for what she had done, i thought she wouldn't admit or would blame someone else for letting the dragon free :D

so, i guess the teacher was actually Shiny Chariot, right? if Akko learn this fact, she would be ecstatic lol XD

8/10, and i'm glad Trigger decided to make another episode, definitely looking forward to it!

So what happened in the past that got most of the wizard/witch world to despise her so much?

I don't think they despise her. It's like society doesn't think highly of her for her ideals and image more than anything. Anyway, based on what Lotte and Diana said, I believe this is what happened with her:

In the first scene we see Chariot performing a show for kids. Basically using her magic to perform a light show and provide entertainment. But we know, thanks to Lotte, that this isn't the image the wizarding world believes a witch should have. Witches are supposed to be serious students of magic, and as Diana states, they're supposed to be feared. Chariot obviously didn't abide to this philosophy, and she defied it even with her looks (just look what she's wearing in the first scene). Because of this she started to become a social outcast.

Eventually, as the kids who were her fanbase started to grow up and became part of the wizarding society, she began to lose her fans as well. Isolated and outcast, she started to doubt herself and her ideals. "Maybe I was wrong after all. Maybe witches are meant to be like they said," she probably thought.

As Chariot stopped believing in herself and her ideals, her Shiny Rod stopped working, because, as she states in the first scene, a "believing heart is your magic".

Now without her magical rod, she truly didn't have anything left, so she decided it was time to stop playing around and became part of society as well. That's probably how she ended up becoming a teacher and why she threw her Shiny Rod in the labyrinth under the School, basically burring the ideals that Shiny Chariot represented with it.

Enter Akko, a young and idealistic witch just like Chariot in her younger days. Just like Chariot, Akko doesn't want to be the kind of witch society deems acceptable. The moment Akko came into contact with the Shiny Rod, the magical stones activated, because they sensed Akko's "believing heart".

That's pretty much what I gathered from the OVA after watching it a few times. If you pay attention you see all the clues are there. You just have to put the pieces together.

thank you, really good explanation!

That was pretty good for a 20 minutes episode. The animation was nice and the characters were likeable. I'll watch the sequel if there is one.

The Kickstarter for Little Witch Academia 2 surpassed its goal by like $100,000 so yes, there will be a sequel. And it will be longer than 20 minutes.

Animation was pretty good for a young, small studio, character design is up to ones taste but I really can't say much about the content. Story was really simple and not really any good at that. There was only one successful joke attempt and characters were really plain and forgettable. Being restricted to about 30 min is not really an excuse for poor writing. All in all, it's only good to watch out of curiosity about the whole government animation project but not the title itself.

Woah Harry Potter but with all girl cast! That was pretty good, the animation was excellent especially with the dragon. Yep Suzy is the best followed by Diana.
Looking forward to the sequel!

Story and characters were really generic and cliche. But that's just my own fault for having seen too many things that are exactly the same as this.

Animation was the biggest highlight for me.

My only real complaint would be that Akko was a crappy MC.

7/10.

Great animation. Satisfactory Sound tracks. Harry Potter setting with some twists and changes. Showtime is too short to really establish the characters.

Wow. The tone of this short was so similar to many American cartoons I used to watch when I was younger. I now understand what people mean when they say Studio Trigger is heavily influenced by the West.

Everything in this episode especially reminded me of "Lilly the Witch", a cartoon I once watched that began airing in 2004.

Plot was hideously average, although I guess there wasn't much to expect from it in the first place.

MC is meh. Sucy is pretty cool, Diana is OK.

Character Designs and Animation were good, there's some obvious effort involved in that respect.
