Plex Media Server Agent

Hello everyone,

I can proudly tell you that I finished my little project. I wrote a metadata Agent for the Plex Media Server to use MyAnimeList.net data. Since there is already a AniDB Agent but couldn't find any Agent for MAL I thought I just program one myself :)

Agent Installation:

1. Stop Plex Media Server
2. Copy the MyAnimeList.bundle folder into your plugins folder (Where is my Plugins folder?)
3. Start Plex Media Server

Yet another version is now available.

MAL.bundle_v2.0 is ready for download

I modified almost the whole Agent to send and receive requests from the unofficial MAL API which is much more comfortable instead the official. Search for ID, much more data and many more search results convinced me to use it.

Still there is much to do. I need to fix the Movies which aren't recognised yet.

Oh and btw you won't need a MAL account anymore since the unofficial API doesn't need one

Sweet after annoying dependence on tvdb from xbmc and thir crappy problems with episode showing i tried plex which actually recognized a lot of my stuff but getting Fate Zero grouped with fate stay night was a bit...

btw it'd be nice if it'd download backgrounds/banners as well, maybe by checking tvdb (they're good for that) or konachan.net

i thought about that. for example use aniDB to fill the Episode title or background but then this wouldnt be the MAL Agent anymore and with the 2.1 version you can simply put the background picture you want into the folder of your anime it should recognise it.

The mal api returns the url to the image, so you could get it straight from mal.

the image is the cover of the Anime but what we meant is a picture for the Background or a banner to this specific anime which isn't supported by MAL.

Hello, does anyone else have problems getting info about anime shows using this plugin?

Everytime I try and match a show, it won't find any matches. If I use the default TV show plugin, I usually get the right match on the first try, or at least it gives me 2-3 options to choose from.

When this problem presented itself in the past, I usually searched up the show on the MAL site to make sure I got the spelling right and added the correct year in custom search to furhter narrow down the search.

I've updated the PLEX server (Version 0.9.8.14), but the issue started before the update. Reinstalling the plugin didn't seem to help either.

Hi!

Here's a short and helpful Agent adding tutorial! If you want to add more Agents to your plex because f.e. you don't always get subtitles under all of your video's i suggest you check this out! :)

Sorry for the late reply.

If you didn't know already the unofficial API doesn't work anymore. Therefore I wrote my own API and I'm at the point where I edit the Agent to get the information from my own API. I'm struggling a bit with the fanart images from TheTVDB but its just a matter of time until I figure out how to add them to the Plex metadata.

The next step is to get the API online because its still running only in my LAN but until the Agent doesn't work properly this will have to wait.

When I add new Animes to my library, it recognizes the most Animes as "None Piece"
