Awesome episode, the dodgeball is one of my favorite parts in the series so far, love it. |

(and btw Gon was not just going out with girls, he was basically an escort) That's the thing, you have to take it so offensively and jump on whenever someone make a squee or joke type of reaction related to Gon and Killua shipping? Yet those are not even anywhere near as some of those gay jokes on the show's Tutorial. |

I think your just loving this show a little to much :P Which makes me really want to watch it, see im here judging and giving you advice on the series but i haven't seen the damn thing. But i have read the manga so based on that info i guess i can give you some info and i also glanced at some particular episodes in this arc, especially towards the end. Yeah HXH has a high quality of writing and consistency in the story and since it nearly follows the manga perfectly and with great pacing, you can only expect the best of the best, just like FMAB or law of ueki. Some times this is the best way to release a shonen series, bleach is actually doing that now as well. They are going on hiatus for probably a few years which means the next series of bleach will probably be just leagues ahead of the first because the lack of all the fillers. I think this is how shonen's should really do it. Also we were lucky enough to have madhouse pick up this anime, a studio that really strives upon high quality animation and often times in lots of shonen's we get very low budget production. In the manga, gon is also a insane monster if you piss him off. Kind of reminds me of luffy later on. Just saying :p |

True, true, but SnK is shonen and it's just as good, probably the only one out there at the moment. Shingeki no Kyojin? It's not really a battle shounen though is it? I have a hard time considering it one so far and I haven't read the manga and have only seen 2 episodes, so I can't really speak about it. |

| Well, you have to consider that Togashi is a much more experienced fella than Oda. While One Piece is the first big shonen title for the latter, Hunter X Hunter is not. Togashi already had plenty of experience with Yu Yu Hakusho when it comes to long shonen series, and as far as I understand, he used Level E as a "training grounds" of sorts to experiment a bit with different ideas and concepts. So, when he started writting HxH, he already knew a lot of stuff. He also seems to be a guy that likes to play with shonen cliches and subvert them, while Oda embraces them, so their styles are very different. I'm personally waiting for the Chimera Ants stuff too so I can decide whether or not I will favourite it. From what I've heard of the arc and seeing how I have a tendency to choose the "I loved it" side when it comes to divisive series/arcs/events, then I'm quite sure I will enjoy it, but I can't say for certain. |

He did try new things, as can be observed in his Sabaody~Marineford period, which I personally consider his most prolific. He didn't follow the structure of previous arcs and spiced things up. I can't speak for Fishmen Island or the most recent arcs though since I have been stalling with the manga for such a long time. Anyway, this isn't the most adequate place to be discussing about One Piece, so I'll just drop the subject. I'm still debating whether or not I should read the manga first or wait for the anime to cover CA in its entirety. I like this adaptation a lot but I think the manga is better in some aspects. In fact, I'm not sure if I should watch GI's adaptation or read the manga, I just stumbled upon this topic because I enjoy reading the discussions, but I haven't actually watched it yet. lol Since it's already over, was it better than the manga? Despite being my favorite arc, CA has some pretty gnarly artistic issues throughout. The very beginning and about the midpoint of it, in particular, are pretty cringe-worthy. The volume-releases for the aforementioned sections are supposed to have gotten touch-ups and re-drawings from Togashi, but you'd have to end up buying those to get them. I've gotta say, I'd be excited at the prospect of being able to experience the CA arc again from the beginning with the crisp, clean, and defined visual style of the anime over the sporadic quality of Togashi. It's your call, however; I won't blame you when one of these weeks something crazy happens, and the wait becomes unbearable. |
