Sakamoto is awesome, but I remain a bit sceptical about the rest.
The opening was... kind of mediocre, I need to listen to it again.

Watched the entire presentation, it was pretty cool. Loved the trailer.

Other than Sakamoto the voice cast is a bit eh.

Not a new TV series. BLAH. I may still check it out at some point because SSS was so good, but goddamn talk about disappointed. I really wanted some weekly Major to watch.

Four 50-minute OVAs is not my ideal scenario, but it's still a good chunk of content.

Did they change Motoko's hair since the first announcement? Aside from her look I sure am excited.

It's half decent total runtime (though I was hoping for a two cour TV series), but if there are long waits between episodes that's what will really suck. That's a real momentum killer for me, which is why I rarely watch OVAs.

I definitely agree here. It would blow if they are released slowly.

Exciting stuff. Looks interesting. As it's OVA's though I'll probably wait until they're all released before watching though as the releases are annoyingly sporadic usually.

character designs reminds me of the 90's GITS films (with a fresh younger look), and has an overall feel of SAC. Thats just from a short teaser anyway.

Cant wait to see it, i just hope the JP blu-rays will have English subs.

its the look of something that can never match up with Kenji Kamiyama's work, don't they dare replace may fav characters' picture with ones from these, they should just create another character profile for this series

i may sound childish but still

It looks...meh, I was expecting another TV series so I'm a bit disappointed by this; I also can't tell if this is meant to be a SAC prequel or movie prequel, although going by the hair colour I'd say it's SAC.

Still, it could be good.

I can't really get used to Majors design at all...

...I'd also love me some voice sampling...seeing as pretty much all have been replaced, probably _the_ hurdle I'm seeing...next to that porn music in the trailer lol

Well, probably better than a TV series. Higher quality is preferable to length.

Trailer looks like it will be a solid addition to the series. Hopefully.

I don't accept this new Motoko.

There is no Ghost in the Shell without the involvement of Kanno and Kamiyama.

So, I guess a certain influential movie that started the anime franchise never actually existed

FUCK YEAH! I'm so damn excited about this.
And I, for one, like that they decided to make it as OVA/short movies, rather than a full-length TV series. It allows for better visuals and a tighter, more engaging story than a bunch of stand-alone episodes. Maybe I.G were inspired by ufotable's approach to Kara no Kyoukai.
Also love the artwork and character designs. They really look like the designs from the original 1995 movie.
Can't wait for this!

Hopefully this inspires Kamiyama to do a "3rd GIG".
The trailer looks pretty good. Seems like they kinda managed to capture the essence of the show. The changed character designs will take getting used to (some more than others), but I'm looking forward as to what they com up with for Motoko's past. Don't ruin her Production I.G!

Fans in Japan react quite badly with the wholesale change of all VAs. They are not enthusiastic about a OVA model for the anime distribution. Combined with the ambivalent reactions about the new character design, the prognosis for the new series does not look so bright (for now at least).
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

In a way, that could end up being a good thing - low expectations mean that they will be easy to exceed. If everyone thought it was going to be perfect, than anything less than perfection would have been smashed. They still have to actually crank out a good product for this to work, though.

As a hardcore fan of GitS I was very excited when I read the first news. Now after seeing the 2 videos posted in here, my expectations became very very high, but the only 2 things I didn't like at all are that the 1st film will be 50 mins. long and that none of the original VAs will be returning. I just hope that if in the end a 3rd GIG gets green light I just hope all the VAs return as for Kanno and Kamiyama.

In the end this looks pretty solid, despite what I mentioned above, animation and art looks astonishing. Probably this will be better than most of the animes that are been made nowadays and the ones to come. Very excited, looking forward to it.

Now we're talking the sme language! hells yeah.
The Art of Shipping is no mere game. It can be small skirmishes to huge nation size wars.
Of course some will claim their ship is the BATTLESHIP but they all do. This is why battles occur because of factions fighting each other to justify their favourite ship.
And thus SHIP to SHIP combat occurs almost anytime even now.
Beware, Threading into the Shipping battlefield will be bloody.... What are you waiting for?
