I think it's REALLY stupid to hate an anime because of fillers.. which seems to be the main complaint Naruto receives. Just fucking skip them. |

tsudecimo said: I don't think I am, I already know it's probably the 6th highest selling manga of all time. First of all I don't trust that site, it seems odd that Dragonball only shows up once in the entire list and it's near the bottom. Dragonball is the second highest selling manga of all time. You are kinda underestimating Naruto's popularity in Japan. It not in one piece level but it's really popular and the manga is in the top 5 and 10 of each demographic. Quoting the Japanese dude that made that thread: naruto is 4th popular manga among teen male and 3rd popular manga among 20s male and 6th popular manga among 20s female and 6th popular manga among 40s female. http://zenkandokuha.com/user_data/event/rankinggeneration.html I also heard that Kai was made because DBZ was more popular in the west/rest of the world. The way I see it, Naruto has a good chance of getting a remake, the question is when. And I was actually talking about anime. DBZ's anime is more popular, in Japan or in the west. It's a part of their pop culture more than Naruto. I see you've also only focused on what I said about the popularity. Does Naruto have as much filler in it's episodes as Dragonball Z did? If they can cut down on canon filler and make it closer to the manga then that's what they would do, if Naruto doesn't have a lot of filler in the episodes since it has more filler arcs it would make more sense just to rerun it without fillers. Dragonball Z is also over 30 years old, about time an anime would usually get that "it's old, let's remake it" treatment, Naruto's like 13. There's also the amount of episodes, they were able to (and this could have been part of the reason why they decided to remake it) to compress it to 97 episodes, from 291 episodes(excluding the Buu arc). How many episodes would they be able to get from Naruto's current 553 episodes? That still seems like a lot of episodes. |

This may seem stupid, but when its watch, watch, watch, 3-6 month filler break, watch, more stop watch, etc....That pattern gets old and can sour you on the entire series. So with THIS logic, fillers can ruin a series for you regardless of the ability to skip because, if I continuously have to stop watching, then I will....Also, if the whole of the anime encompasses filler, then its part of the anime. Bad eps (filler or not) is enough reason to dislike. |

I don't think I have ever hated/disliked Naruto to an extreme amount. I just got bored, I stopped Shippuuden at 138 and the manga at 466. I watched Road to Ninja last night and it has kind of made me want to start again, decisions, decisions. |

Never been a Naruto fan. After watching the pace of some episodes from Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden, I dropped it for lack of interest. I did watch the whopping 2 hours video on the fight between Naruto and Pain, it was pretty good animation-wise, although confusing. That's where it ends. |

I think if people weren't there already, the ending of the Pain Arc did it for pretty much everybody. Not necessarily hate or even dislike but most people seemed to have liked Naruto less after that. It was just such a cop-out and made the entire arc feel like a waste of time. While my interest in naruto started to waver early in shippuden, it wasn't until Naruto Talk no jutsu'd Pain and got him to bring back everyone he killed that I became sort of apathetic towards the series. |

When the war arc started and dead people started coming back. They could condense the whole of part 1 Naruto into like 60 episodes if they didn't fill it with useless explanations, fillers, all that crap (literally, there was like a half-an-hour explanation on how Naruto transformed into a Shuriken, which Sasuke threw at Zabuza.). And Shippuden does this just as bad with flashbacks and fillers. I'd really like to see a Naruto Kai, but I doubt that will happen. |

Originally I have loved the manga very much. From chapter 1, up to the fight against Danzo and to the meeting of Naruto and the blind Sasuke Uchiha, the story offered everything. The fights were logical and were led with tactics. The story was well told and kishi has never lost his unique narrative style. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the war everything has changed. Now only the size of the chakra stock and the rhetoric of the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, counts. However, the worst plot twist was sasukes sudden change of his goal and that he forgot why he choose this path of hatred originally. |

I never liked it (thank God!). I wanted to find out what it was back when it was really popular, so I watched a couple of episodes and thought it was the dumbest crap in anime. |

Quite a while ago, can't pinpoint an exact time, but at some point I just realised how poor the cast is overall(and cast is very important to me), how overly cliche is it as well as how it started becoming crappier in pretty much every single way from when it was at its best, which was a looooong time ago. I mean everything is cliche but Naruto takes the cake, there's no imagination in it. I'm only still reading it because I've put so much time into it I want to see it to the end before totally slaughtering it for the rubbish it eventually became. Well no, I won't slaughter it, it's actually not worth the time, cause it'd take me time to write up the long post that I'd need to talk about how lame this series ended up becoming. Topping off how terrible this series became was the whole Team 7 reunion, my God! I almost barfed, haha. |

Most people who read Naruto don't like it any more, or at least think a lot less of it than they used to, but as it's approaching the end it'd be a bigger waste to stop reading it now than to continue(since we've all spent a ridiculous amount of time reading it all, why drop it at 650+?), especially as Madara can actually, but probably not too likely, do something worthy of note. Unless he cops a talk no jutsu. |

After the Pain arc it was getting worse and worse so I had to put it on hold for a while. i still love Naruto as a character, the Pain arc was very touching and I think it was just so good that fans were expecting Naruto to reach those heights once again. As for the manga I haven't read it yet because im waiting for it to finish publishing and I plan to buy a box set so I can get a better deal. |

Certainly not for the first 27 volumes, and in my honest opinion (I wasn't reading any forums around then) not during the Pein arc either, I really enjoyed that. I think the 600 billion exploding tags thing was the very first point, followed by things like the armadillo penis and the infamous Naruto having a panic attack scene. The problem is even then there are good bits, like anything with Kisame. It depends on what you want. Kisame going was certainly a point where I would consider the manga losing it's high ranking on my lists. The war was where things started looking worse but even that was good in parts. If you are waiting weekly for something it's a lot worse than reading something in a volume in one go, so on a second read (offline that is), the Itachi/Kabuto battle might not even be that bad. So I find the manga very hard to rank. Sasuke vs Danzou was the only Sasuke fight I have rooted him for in the Shippuden era. But that was one of the examples where one of his direct targets was right in front of him. |

Speedhoven said: I been a huge Naruto fan since before Naruto Shippuuden existed. I dont know how many years i have read it, probobly 7-8 years. Which is a very long time. In one point, i thought that this was the best manga, but reading it today is just sad. Too me, this show went downhill once Pain revived everyone he killed during the invasion. At that poitn in the story, when Jiraya, Itachi and all the villiagers (including Kakashi ofc) died, thats when the show was at it's peak for me. However, since then, this show have been going downhill, and it all started when Pain revived the people he killed. It felt stupid and took away all those emotions Kishi had created. And all fights since then have been bad too. Naruto is no longer about outsmarting your enemy. The fights are no longer exciting like they used to, and everything feels bland and.. predictable. Now, it is all about big and flashy super mega ultra overpowered attacks. Remeber fights such as Shikamaru vs Hidan? Kakashi vs Zebusa? Naruto vs Gaara? Jiraya vs Pain? They were great! This war have just been... the flashier, the better. The story have become predictble and lame. The character development have been crazy, whats the point of everything after this war when Naruto is the most OP ninja of all times and he is not even 19 years old? I am not saying that flashy big attacks are bad, they were always cool. Like Naruto vs Gaara etc. But now, they feel just like every other Attacks, and since Naruto have unlimited Charaka, he uses them like he uses Kage bunshins. Everyting is just over the top. It is like someone toild Kishi, "we must make more money, dumb it down and make it appealing to everyhing", and as a result, it is no longer what it once was. At the moment, the only character i find intresting is Sasuke, only becuse he is unpredictable and i always liked him. I still read the series, but only becausei have been reading it for such a long time. So, when did you start to dislike Naruto and why? Dislike the show? Not entirely and really, but I do think it has mist its spark from exactly the point that you're describing; (Death Note and Naruto spoiler!) When Pain revived everyoone. The show could have gone the same legend way as Death Note's first season (e.g. L's death). |

When Nagato revived everyone was the first straw and when Naruto broke out and started hyperventilating over Sasugay during Retrieval arc was the last straw. After that I began to hate every character in the show and just wanted Madara and Kaguya to end it all. Oh and when Kaguya was introduced as some type of alien from outer space that started the ninja world, so pretty much everyone's an alien, go figure. |

Oh boy where to start? Here's the thing...The first series was amazing imo except when the fillers started..I loved every arc of it....But when shippuden started....oh well It went downfill really fast for me but still kept to it until the war...I havent finished it yet and I dont think I ever will.....There were only about 1 or 2 arcs I liked in shippuden believe it or not the pain arc was one of em except the revival stuff (ew!) The first arc sucked,so did the second...and the third...and the list goes on... BTW I started watching/reading it when Shippuden had just started was like at episode 9 or 10 EDIT:I love how some naruto lovers are expressing their love for the manga but cant provide reasons as to why it is their fav. Not being mean..just stating facts and you can notice that naruto has dropped in ranking on MAL quite a bit....same goes for bleach but lets not go there |

I've never really disliked Naruto. But there were periods I liked it less, it's quite inconsistent IMO. I really loved the first part, all of it. Post time skip started pretty slow, and often bored me though, but it still had it's moments (like Sasori arc). Then comes the Pain arc which is probably my favourite arc ever, I loved all of it, even the ressurection so many people love to hate. After that, it slowly went down, the war was long and boring as fuck more often than not. The last fights (how long did this last, 2 years? lool) were pretty cool again but disappointed me with some things. I was just mad at Kishimoto with this black zetsu asspull and Madara's demise. After all this buildup and making him out to be the biggest mofo around, the way he was defeated... laughable. Tobinami said: after too many filler ruined the war arc.. this is manga board i think war was the worst arc, but the fillers made it even worse |
