Suddenly Noa and Kanuka don't like each other? It could have stood to have built that up a bit sometime in the past 13 episodes. The closest thing we got was Kanuka beating Noa in the tournament in episode 2 but it didn't keep up any pressure on the idea at all. So many episodes in between were silly throw-aways, too. Kind of sloppy.

Kanuka's tearful mention of her grandmother would also have made a lot more sense if this was before episodes 10 and 11, when we see that character for the first time. It wouldcreated anticipation to see her thus supporting the story it did with her and supported Kanuka's inability to function at 100% while worrying where her grandma went.

On the up side, Kanuka's facial spasm when she realized what a booze monster Noa is was very funny.

The Noa and Kanuka not liking each other did feel pretty random. Drunk Asuma is freaking hilarious.

It has been said twice already, and for the third time: Kanuka and Izumi actually had some beef with each other? They were suddenly made out to be a bickering pair. I guess what they had in mind was that since they're the only two females in SV2 who do actual field work, there must have been a sense of competitiveness between them. But if you leave Kanuka with anyone else except Gotou and Hiromi, the result might have more or less been the same as with Izumi.

Still, Gotou really knows what to do and for that, I give him another star. Hilarious drunkass episode overall!

4th time, yeah that fight kinda came out of nowhere, but they did get thrust into a different dynamic this time. People hate change you know.

The comparison between Izumi and Kanuka was pretty hilarious, not to mention their drinking competition.

"It isn't as simple as the arguments between Ota and Shinohara." Yeah, that's because two women are arguing.

I believe the first four replies in this thread have misunderstood the situation with Izumi and Kanuka in this episode. There wasn't any long-term bitterness or mutual dislike between them but rather their approaches to doing the job are fundamentally different and up until now they haven't really contradict each other. If you look back at previous episodes, you can see that Noa almost always engages in melee combat while Ota prefers to rely on his gun and this combination is in a way balanced because one of them acts like front-line and another as back-line. But this time, two people who are used to doing things in a different ways, were hastily ordered to work together, so of course they'll have a disagreement about the way they should act.

With that cleared up, Gotou's sparring presence was intense, his black belt is probably backed up for the most part by the ability to put psychological pressure on the opponent. And it sure is reassuring to have an anime confirm once again that alcohol is indeed the solution.

@Genoard Really well said!

I love the scene of Kanuka and Izumi drinking so much that I have it enshrined on my profile. Adore this episode. <3
