I know this is a really old series and it is released in America, but most of the volumes are out of print and some cost an over 100 dollars, and I know there are no scanlations, so I was thinking, what if I buy all the volumes in english realeaseds by viz media, I am even willing to buy the more expensive ones, and scan them and release them.

First I need to buy a new printer and scanner, since mine recently broke and I need to come up with the money to do this, is any one in favor of me doing this? I know this is one of Osamu Tezuka best works and he considers it "his life work". Which is why I wanna do this for the people who can't afford to buy these out of prints volumes.

I'm not asking you to do, because they are SUPER expensive and I would never be willing to do it - but I would appreciate it so much if you did it. :D

I've been waiting for a long time for Viz to reprint those out of print volumes, but it doesn't seem like it'll ever happen, so it would be awesome if you do decide to scanlate them!

I would really love to do this, but it would cost around 400-500 to purchase all of the volumes, some range around 40-80 used on amazon, other are pretty cheap like 4-8 dollars+4 dollar shipping. Maybe I should do an indiegogo, to raise the money?

Also I have a new printer and scanner, a very nice brother scanner, that scans at amazing quality, cost 125$ on amazon. I would love for this masterpiece to be readable by people around the world, I still have not read it due to volumes being to expensive and no scanlations.

OK so there is 12 volumes and 4 of them are in the 40-70$ range and the rest under 15$, so I would probably only need 300$ to purchase all the volumes, and then I can release it and everyone would enjoy it, I don't think anyone would trust an indiegogo, by me though, people would probably think I'd take the money and not do anything, which I absolutely would not, I would love everyone to enjoy Osamu Tezuka masterpiece and his "Life work".

Just added all 12 volumes to my cart. It came out to 347.61$. I added the cheapest ones, beside volume 10, cheapest was 44.98 and it had brown stains on the book and was badly worn out, as said in the description. I choose the next one which was in like new condition for 45.00, so only 2 more cents lol. So if I start an indiegogo, I would need 347.61$, we will just round up to 350(If I do start an indiegogo), just because it looks nicer and it will cover maybe 10% of indiegogo fees lol.

What you're doing is illegal - indiegogo probably doesn't allow copyright infringement, illegal redistribution, and so on to be something their site is used to fund.

Lucky! All my local library ever carries is random volumes of Naruto, Dragon Ball, and Inuyasha.

Yeah, I'm afraid they won't allow that. Oh well. I guess I'll continue waiting for someone to get the license from Viz and be able to reprint the manga.

So does anyone know where to read it online? I only found volumes 2-5.

http://www.mangago.com/read-manga/hi_no_tori/tr/120810/page/

http://www.mangatraders.com/view/file/120810/page/1

Still awesome though and worth a read(i've read almost 2 volumes now), since each volume is basically a self contained story, but i hear that it will also all come together in the final volume.

I would LOVE it if someone told me they knew where the whole 12 volumes were online for me to read, and not just from volume 2-5.. also, who just does 2-5 and not 1?? :(

the volumes and chapters that are listed in mangafox are correct? because the chapters uploaded there, are translated by viz media, so it's an official realease. but there it says that are only 12 volumes (and not 16 like MAL says), and 21 "chapters" (and not 19 like MAL says). my doubt is: if i read everything there is available in mangafox, will i read everything from this series?

It's 11 volumes in Viz's release.
Volume 12 is not part of this series. It's this one: https://myanimelist.net/manga/89809/Hi_no_Tori

Everything from the 16 volumes of the original Japanese release is included in the 11 volumes by Viz.
You will see, some volumes are around 400 pages, while some are less than 300.

It’s also on Internet Archive, if you’re not looking to spend $109 for digital. Seems complete, but you have to flip through the hundreds of pages one by one.
