Naruto has lost so many fans past few years because of One Piece, why do people like this show so much for the manga to have 9.01?
It's just another Shounen. (Naruto is 8.19... What the-??)

Naruto has lost a lot of its comedy and One piece still has that. Thats only one reason.

Naruto's plot is always moving and theres character development for everyone though it must be because of the fanservice.

Because it's good?

Also some people think One Piece gets better over time, while Naruto gets worse.

Anime with long episode counts are bound to catch attention and popularity. Simple as that.

Ok another reason would be that One piece is moving on all the time i.e. new island, new stuff is happening and the main story develops slowly over time as well. However Naruto has been about the same thing for the last 250 eps or w.e its just been Naruto trying to get back Sasuke. Although thats not the reason for why I prefer op its just one reason why others may prefer it...

Maybe....

As for the scores, you have to read a certain amount (almost 20%) of chapters before your score is even counted and One Piece has almost 700 chapters. When it finishes, the score will probably be even higher. Same with the anime.

Well, somebody once told me if you haven't watched Naruto as a kid, you'll find it very idiotic and childish. I will watch Naruto one day, but for now to answer this as a One Piece fan: (it's also childish in a lot of instances, nvm that)
One Piece is popular because of everything that makes the show. Simple as that.
This world is mine. I think this world may even just be a long, long dream I'm watching. You guys may just be illusions, and it can't be proven whether or not you really exist either. In other words, this world was created with me at the center. So what will happen if I die? I don't know. My imagination isn't very creative; I just can't imagine myself dying. In other words, there is no way this world can completely disappear. But if I die, then everyone will disappear. I am the only one in this world who won't disappear. The rest are just people I see as if in a dream.

Actually, I believe that rule only counts when it is finished, that's why scores usually jump when a series ends. While it's airing or being published, they count all scores. It's just that usually when someone likes One Piece, they really like it and rate it a 10.

OT: I don't know if Naruto lost fans because of One Piece, the score doesn't represent that at all. And Naruto is more popular than both the One Piece anime and manga on this site. In Japan One Piece is 20x more popular though.

Reasons why I believe it's more popular and is better than Naruto is. It has way less fillers, One Piece only has 100 compared to Naruto's 180 despite One Piece being over 70 episodes ahead and OP's are usually more enjoyable. There's no training episodes, Oda wanted more story so there is basically no training arcs or episodes whatsoever(besides Zoro always working out, but that's more for personality), while Naruto has atleast 30 or 50 episodes dedicated to him training.
All of the characters get their own development, with Naruto it's just the main couple of characters. The characters are so popular in One Piece, most of them are unique and fleshed out enough that they could be their own main characters.

The world building is better, with all sorts of races, cultures, islands, weather, etc that blows Naruto's away.

The comedy is in my opinion better than Naruto's.

It's a long adventure show, it doesn't pretend to be anything else. People enjoy it because of that, you know basically the format of the arcs before hand but the story in each arc, the characters, flashbacks, are all well done and you end up enjoying almost every arc.

But Naruto's plot isn't as good as One Piece, and One Piece has way more character developement, for all of the main characters and the side characters that are only in there for one arc.

The easiest way to find out is to watch it yourself.

I've been thinking of a while about whether or not to get on the One Piece bandwagon, would you guys recommend the manga or the anime?

compared to one piece, naruto has very little character development. naruto has focused on a handful of characters and literally left a lot of the main ones from before the time skip to dry. I'm looking at all of the other ninja groups. Shikamaru is the only one who got a bit more screen time.
The female characters are also useless. Tsunade is somewhat okay but Tenten was horrible from the very beginning. Ino has cool powers but theyre not even used as much as they should be. Sakura is useless - yeah she heals, tries to fight, and gets in the way. Temari also could have been cool but no..

One piece's world is also far bigger. Naruto just has the leaf village and random battle areas in random forests. Yeah they visit villages from time to time but theres not much expanded upon them.

And recently for Naruto

each of the major villages are supposed to comprise of tons of great shinobi but the kids and the leaders are the only ones with power. Outside the leaf village there are very few adult jounin who have any notable significance.

Naruto from the very beginning starts off kiddy I guess but it has some pretty good arcs and scenes that pop up after the first major mission and chuunin exams. The direction it is going is sort of disappointing but it is still interesting to read.

okay so off my rant of naruto. Like I said One Piece has more characters, a bigger world etc. It also sets the stage for multiple arcs in the future during current arcs with great foreshadowing. There are tons of characters with good stories behind them who are still present and actually do stuff.

Luffy is the main character but he is far from stealing the show, not to say he's not a good character, but there are so many good side characters, even beyond his crew.

I would say the same, just filling with some more info, go for the manga, the art is unique ( for me that is the right word, some people say that the art is bad, when you see the art of the islands and places it is outstanding, the art is good, the traces that are somewhat diferent that is all ). The manga has no fillers \0/ and is very enjoyable from start to end of each chapter. The anime should be seen after each arc you have already seen in the manga but you may not like the animation at first. Although it gets way better as the series goes on. I am pointing out the only thing you may not like because everything else is amazing, knowing that this series will end someday is heartbreaking there is no better word for me to describe it, but after seeing all episodes to this date and having read every chapter more than once I can only say this series is beyond anyone can imagine that an anime could cause so many emotions of all sorts to so many people.
