As the topic says, I'm looking for a good mystery / psychological manga. I've been into anime a lot recently, so I'm planning on reading some more manga again. I've been looking around here for a good manga of this genre, but I can't find one I'm really interested in. People tend to recommend a manga like Monster, but I tried the anime of that one and couldn't stand it, so I kind of tossed the manga aside aswell. I'm currently downloading Hotel and Planetes, which I have kinda high expectations of. I am also currently watching the Higurashi anime series, which I really enjoy. Is there anything else you could group with the series mentioned above in your opinion? I would appriciate any recommendations for this genre. :)

Thanks in advance.

Homunculus

Eternal Sabbath

Best psychological genre manga I've read. Monster is decent too, and I've currently only read one volume of Freesia ages ago (need to restart it) and have a hazy memory of it but think it was pretty cool as well.

There's the Higurashi mangas, some of which are arcs not shown in the anime.
Other interesting manga include:

Homunculus, 20th Century Boys, Mirai Nikki, BLAME!, Goth, Hatsukanezumi no Jikan, Lament of the Lamb, Nijigahara Holograph, Solanin, Welcome to the NHK, Shadow Star, Hallucination from the Womb and some of the stories in Hiroki Endo's Tanpenshu

Battle Angel Alita has some psychological and philosophical aspects, and in Last Order, even with direct references to things like Jung's shadows. But it's not the main focus though.

Battle Royale also has a foot inside the psychological genre, and the same holds especially true for Ichi the Killer.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou has lots of philosophical moments and some mystery here and there, but don't expect any action.

Though I'm not much into manga, I've been reading Doubt and it fits your criteria. By my unexperienced standards, it's also good. And it's on your plan to read.

^ Second that. Only tried out a couple of chapters, but I got lots of SAW flashbacks, so it's bound to be nice. Pretty surprising events even in the start as well...

2nding Alita and BLAME!.

Adding: Ghost In the Shell 1 & 2. Don't let the cyberpunk theme confuse you. GitS is about as psychological as it gets.

I know you asked for manga, but I checked your list and saw you haven't watched Paranoia Agent, so I'm recommending that too. Ghost Hound as well.

2nding Eternal Sabath

Meisou Kuiki - good, short psychological mystery
Liar game- is pscycological, and something of a mystery, but not quite in the sense of the 'mystery' genre
