Hey guys,

When I saw Lincoln in theaters a few weeks ago, I saw a trailer for the Life of Pi, and I was going to go see it, but something else came up. For those of you who have seen it, what did you think of it? Would it be worth buying on DVD when it comes out?

Thanks

I haven't seen the movie yet but I will probably see it next week. I've read the book though and liked it. The movie's reception has been good too, so for me it would be at least worth a rent.

The book was brilliant so I'm skeptical about the movie, but I plan on checking it out pretty soon. I'm not sure if it is already in cinemas where I live though.
I probably regret this post by now.

I'm definitely reading the book. I'm hoping I'll be able to see the movie in theaters before it ends, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to considering my busy schedule.

How's the book?

Is shit.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

Still brilliant. (An important enough fact to double post)
Top 10-15% of books I've read, and I've read a fair amount of them.
But you know, how much is any opinion that is not yours really worth?
I probably regret this post by now.

Sounds like a rental. But I would never compare a movie to how great a book it supposed to be. They are separate entities that happen to be telling a similar story.

Well if 90% of people who read it, enjoy it, chances are, I'll probably like it as well. (Of course, those are completely made up statistics, but you get my point)

Definitely going to give both the book and movie a shot then.

My parents have seen it, and they described it as beautifully shot, and amazingly colourful. I was slightly suspicious that they didn't say whether it was actually any good, but I imagine it is, otherwise they would have said so.

Definitely going to try and see it. I loved the trailer for it, the song they used is still stuck in my head.

I read the book in like grade 10 and I was pretty pleased with the film. It was simply beautiful, both artistically and thematically.

Completely worth it. It is a visually and emotionally stunning masterpiece. Although hopefully you've figured that out by now as this topic was posted almost two years ago. :P

I've read the book in 7th grade and I loved it. read it again for 10th grade class and still loved it.

I've also seen the movie twice, once with my brother and another at my friends house. The movie is pretty, and doesn't skip anything too major that I can recall, but I definitely prefer the book.

A boy and his tiger, it was a really moving movie. Haven't read the book yet though. Wasn't even aware of it till the flick.
