So i remember checking out random episodes on Adult-Swim, and the voices seemed ok. Now that i'm actually watching the series, the voice acting seems pretty horrible, except for InuYashas voice but still isn't that great. I'm only on episode 10.

Does the voice acting get better down the road? Or am i just mistaken? Usually i watch in Japanese, but i'm sort of drawn to the English voice actor of Inuyasha.

Inuyasha is a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE
Series. The only reason it has a 7+ rating is because of all the RIFS.
Just drop it or finish it and give it a 1 like I did; like it deserves.

No it does not get better, it only gets worse.

Trust me, by episode 70, you're gonna start wishing that Inuyasha would shut his damned mouth already

English dub is really terrible. I'm watching it in japanese and it is great. I love this anime. Nice animation, good fights, nice drama and comedy. It's one of my favorites.

Wow, negativity.

I think I'm probably the only person who enjoys the dub. It's good!

I watched the whole thing in English because it was before I watched subbed anime. I never noticed anything wrong with the voice acting, so in other words I thought it was really good.

Dude, when a JAPANESE series is ENGLISH DUBBED it will NEVER be as good as the original when it comes to voice acting.

What? Never saw the English version of Godzilla?

I did the same thing. Saw the eng on AS. The Japanese is wayyyy better, always is.

I wonder why eng dub always sucks ass? Because shitty quality is cheaper? Or because this is how Japan thinks that their language is translated into English--all super upbeat? I wish I knew.

I watched the dub and I dropped the series because of it. That's how bad it is. But then I recently got into it again, with Japanese subs. And it's great.

Well That is Obvious. That english dub anime can never replace the original. But still it is to peoples tastes. If they like dub they should just watch it dub and likewise. I in some anime's myself I love hearing how the english Voice actors do their job. cuz the Inuyasha can't be to bad since I read a place that for them to finish casting the American companies let the Japanese people confirm it or something.

I myself watch Inuyasha dub. And I Enjoy it very much :P I like Inuyasha's English voice. And if Inuyasha WAS ORGINALLY on English I would believe that you would feel that the Japanese suck ass. So :P hehe
But I enjoy dubbing and subbing..

False. FALSE!!

Inuyasha was a GREAT series and the English voice actors I think actually beat above the normal shitty type. It was okay like Rurouni Kenshin's was. (I didn't like the japanese VAs because Kenshin was a woman. o_o) The fillers were fine for me because they were funny, and the characters were so intricate that problems never really died.

I first saw this series in English way back when it started airing on TV. I quickly grew to love the show, and didn't actually hear the original Japanese voices until the english dub caught up to the new material. I was too impatient to wait, so I went in search of subtitled episodes to complete the series.

Now after having seen both versions multiple times, I do have to say that -overall- the original Japanese is better. Most of the time I prefer the Japanese to an English dubbed, though there are exceptions. Saying that, there are a few characters in the English dub that I think work terrifically and that I actually prefer to the Japanese. The English dub is well done in my opinion though, so you shouldn't have an issue watching it in English.

To answer your question more specifically, in the first episodes the voice acting is a little shaky since the actors don't know their characters very well. I can clearly hear the difference going back and watching earlier episodes. The voice acting does get better as the show goes on. :)

Inuyasha remains one of my favourite animes. It's by no means a perfect show, and there are plenty of other series that have overall higher qualities to them. However in terms of nostalgia, I will always love Inuyasha since it was one of the first animes I encountered and I have a soft spot for it. :) The manga was very good, and it's a shame the anime had so many filler episodes. Regardless I enjoyed it the whole way through, so it depends on your individual tastes.

Right....

Code Geass
Cowboy Bebop
Wolf's Rain
Fullmetal Alchemist

Yep, you are so right.

And I for one greatly enjoy the English dub of Inuyasha. I'd be interested in why people dislike it, since many of the voice actors are popular ones that are in other English dubs of anime.

I agree with you on all of those except for Code Geass. I hated the voices in the dub, the Japanese were definitely superior in that case (my personal opinion).

I would also add Ranma, Fruits Basket, Rurouni Kenshin, and Hellsing as having phenomenal dubs, all of which I will watch in English over Japanese. :)

Definitely understand that all of this is subjective opinion. I just always laugh/am confused when I read posts like the one I quoted where someone says "Japanese sub is ALWAYS better," when there are a good number of shows where the dub cast is as highly regarded, if not more so, than the Japanese.

Yes, I definitely understand what you're saying in regards to that. For instance, I'm typically a fan of the original Japanese voices in shows.....but there are still a good number of animes I've seen that have exceptional English dubs, and in some cases ones that I prefer.

I think it's completely ignorant to assume that all English dubs will be terrible.

Yes but at the same time you must understand that that statement comes from an overwhelming amount a truth. I mean, we can only name about a handful of good English dubs, compared to the thousands out there. I don't think it's right to call it ignorant, because in 9 out of10 cases it's true, but at the same time you should keep an open mind because the english dub isn't ALWAYS terrible.

You have a very good point. And it's certainly true that in most cases the Japanese version *will* be better. Perhaps I should reitterate what frustrates me:

I suppose what I was trying to get at was the people who refuse to give *any* English dubs a chance, even if that English dub is phenomenal. If someone recommends a dub to me, I'll always give it a chance even if it proves to be horrible. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt at first. There are some who won't even do that though, and it's just a shame since some dubs really hold their own. :)
