Wasn't this supposed to be an original anime?

I dropped the manga a few months ago. The story and setting were interesting, but there was not a single character I liked.

How could you not like Sasha/Potato Girl?

+1 and also Mikasa

Well, it was quite predictable, considering how successful it has become.

Facepalm.

Oh god, again that Yuki Kaji? The anime is totally ruined.

Anyway, it's too early for an adaption. It will have the same fate as Claymore, Zetman, etc.

Oh my god, my inner shounen feels... <3 Fuck yeah, cannot wait for this! Kaji Yuki seems to be in every single Anime these days. Hopefully he won't be annoying as hell in this. Hopefully this TV Anime adaptation won't suck.

Agreed but compared to Shu who isnt? :P

I understand people like Eren and dislike Kaji Yuki but imo, there's not much of a character ruin. Eren is pretty much your token main protagonist with no real distinguishable characteristics to make him stand out. To make a checklist of the traits your typical shonen action hero has, Eren would pretty much fill out the entire bracket.

To name a few.

I always thought that Sawashiro Miyuki was suited for Armin, but I guess Marina Inoue is fine too
I don't have anything against Kaji Yuki, actually it's good that he voices more varied characters than Shoe/Haruyuki, but I didn't imagined him at all for Ellen. I always read him with Okamoto's voice (and it seems that he is in the cast too, damn it)

OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD.

I must be dreaming. Could the mediocrity of the last season's anime line-up have ended?

One of my all time favorite manga getting adapted into anime? FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEES

I just hope they do not go for anime-original-ending and instead go with the "Season-by-season" approach SAO seems to be taking.

I could not bear another of my favorites getting getting a half-assed adaptation with anime-original ending (*cough*Claymore*cough*Gantz*cough*Fate/StayNight*cough*)

I was hyped as fuck when I first heard it as well. Then I saw Yuki Kaji...don't get your hopes up...
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Agreed, but do you really think that kaji is able to do the job for a Shounen character ? As far as I know, Shu ain't a shounen character.

In the announcement event there are disclosure of additional cast and singers for OP/ED. One thing that is intriguing to fans is that ED will be sung by Hikasa Youko but her name is not in the cast announced so far. So will she have a role in the anime? Many think that she must have a role in the anime, and perhaps a significant one too (a character who sings an ED is usually at least a supporting character in the anime). But who will she be? Or they invite Hikasa to only sing in this anime?
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Hrm. That is quite a good trailer. But I see three likely ways it could turn me off, in order of likelihood:

1. If the gore is anywhere near what people in this thread are talking it up as being.
2. If the male lead is annoying and/or ends up being the only character who gets to do anything important.
3. If CG is overused.

Only one way to find out, though, and that'll be to try it out.

1. The manga is quite gory, but the way the show is animated makes it seem as if the gore will be quite quick.

This was in the trailer, for example.

2. Eren is actually pretty cool for the most part, and never reaches Shinji levels of whining. I'd say at least 1/2 the manga focuses on other central characters like Mikasa and Rivaille.

3. Can't say for now, but it looks like the CG is being used well in conjunction with hand drawn animation.

Hopefully. There's a place for very graphically violent series, but I have a hard time connecting to them. It's really situational, though. I liked, for example, Claymore. And a recent death-filled show I enjoyed was Another. But then there are other less graphic shows I've had to drop. I guess it's really hard to judge it consistently.

I also tend to expect the characters I like the most to die in gory shows, which sucks. =P

A diversified focus could be nice. I usually start to dislike stories where the male MC is the one to always, always beat the big bad, save the girl, make the tough choice, get all the cool scenes, and so on.

@jmal Yeah its a diversified focus, there is mikasa, rivaille , both of them are badass and strong too. Armin is intelligent instead. So yeah, you wont be disappointed and Just to let you know, this MC is kinda cold blooded since he was a kid.

In my opinion, CG works best when it's in a fast-paced scene and the viewers can't dwell and stare at it for a long time. Look at the gif there, it's obvious that the buildings are CG, but since the scene is quite fast-paced, it doesn't really bother me, at least. I don't know about others though, but this kind of CG usage is very acceptable for me.
A very small degree of hope is sufficient to cause the birth of love.

Very nice PV, the 3D maneuver gear looks amazing in animation and the CG titans blend in quite nicely.

I'm personally hoping it stays true to the manga and we get a graphic depiction when it comes to gore and death. It may be morbid but i feel its imperative in illustrating the hopelessness, the affliction and just how frightening their world currently is. I feel some of that will be lost in translation if they tone it down too much. With that said, i've honestly never felt the level of gore in the manga was too excessive to the point i've felt disgusted but different strokes of course.
