Despite various complaints about the "obvious" flaws of the system, the reasons why it is accepted keep piling up. This episode we get told that unemployment is basically nonexistent anymore since everyone gets assigned to a job or at least gets the opportunity to work. The life in this future is one of comfort, no need to think for yourself, Sibil does the work for you. Like in reality people are willing to let some unpleasant things slide like the lack of anonymity if there are enough advantages to balance them out.

I agree seeing them makes them seem more real. Good episode, too bad spooky boogie had to die her avatar was cool. Bunch of creeps who seem to be obsessed with online avatars they must be really insane to care about avatars so much.

The blender at the end was a nice touch.

Great ep, wasn't a fan of the girl's expression while being strangled though something looked off about it.

I am pretty sure that the whole point of the scene to make the viewer feel disturbed. The writer did say he wanted to create a show that would traumatize kids for life...lol. So I assume you should expect more stuff like this.
Quite interesting to hear this but how far will he go is interesting cause he has big eyes of a certain board watching him. So far a lot was allowed but remains to see how much more.

The expression of the girl being strangled is on PAR levels of the series Another.

They were connected to spooky boogie because they liked the fact that she was apparently an anarchist, thus making it likely they were also anarchists.

Great episode with a really cool premise. I loved the investigation at the house and how they used the virtual sofa's positioning. I'm kinda surprised that they have a recurring villain, I was sort of expecting this show to be a new case each episode. I can definitely see the connection to 1984 through the use of the various ways the citizens are monitored. Really looking forward to next weeks episode!

Well, the psycho pass represents the person's state of mind, so I guess they were all unstable from the beginning? Or it's as Tsunemori said to Kougami, that if you think about murder that it clouds up your psycho pass.

They hold anarchist views, and amongst others who hold the same views. I'd imagine quite a few of them were having discussions about it and how they felt about society.

All the avatars I saw reminded me of Accel World, but with Ayana Taketatsu in it. Akane's avatar looked so moe and that dime avatar was pretty funny since it was just so out of place in the VR world. It was also weird since it was a giant coin but with Lincoln's head. Anyone who's seen an American dime knows that the face on the dime is Roosevelt.

Spooky Bookie's neko avatar looked pretty good too. It's too bad that she had to die like that.

Loved the fuck out of the episode..the outlook of the cyberworld of the era/city was a great change of pace. I thought the case was a little bit too infantile and mundane to mark the entrance of the Big Bad, but i guess Urobochi has already cooked up a good reason in mind as to why he showed up in it...

i hope Urobochi is gonna show Kogami and Shogo dueling at least once in the next episode, since i've been craving for a one-on-one fight between them since their rivalry was teased in the premiere...

Eh, didn't really like the setting of this episode too much :P Never expected cutesy from this show.

Seems like there may be some big conspiracy behind their cyber world, curious to see where this will lead.

Is it just me or someone else was waiting for a wryyyyyy from Talisman?

So, in the second ep I wrote that the only thing missing was the cyberworld. It isn't anymore. I t reminded me of the debate episode from GITS, though the avatars were more random. I liked the concept of the chat rooms and of the offline meeting using the avatars.

There was a little bit of deelopment in the Akane/Kogami relationship. I really liked how they depicted the old man in this episode and I wonder why his PP is cloudy. We have lots of hints as to why Kogami's is cloudy. His unorthodox/violent methods, his understanding of the criminal mind, the fact that he seems to like to catch the criminals and his obsession with his unfinished business.

There was a creepy serial killer that cuts the victims in pieces so small that he can throw them in the sewers... How is that infantile?

Also, his goal is killing influent net characters and impersonating them which makes total sense considering he's working for the revolutionaire and will be able to influence the masses.

We just need to know how they can fool the scanners.

Also, the 1984 book was a nice reference, but, until now, the system isn't as bad as it seemed in the beggining. I mean, it's highly intrusive and it might induce police brutality, but it allows people freedom of expression, since Spooky had her channel and was unharmed. It's not a good system, but it's not a specially bad one either. Let's see if there's something big about the system they haven't showed yet.

Probably not. It'll probably end here and become part of an ongoing investigation that'll deal with the revolution. It's a common structure for a police series. They have some standalone cases and some cases that are linked to a major plot, which will be the revolution in PP's case. They'll eventually link these murders with the antagonists.

The white haired character in a nutshell.

You've clearly never read 1984.

What's more, the premise of this society is fundamentally different to that of Oceania from 1984. The "thought police" in that context set about controlling people's every waking moment and gearing them solely towards supporting the party - it was nothing to do with morality, law, justice, or maintaining a society without crime. The thought police in this series though are clearly meant for the purpose of maintaining what would be considered a "moral" and crime-free society. The direction this story will take - whether it is later revealed that this is all just some facade covering up a corrupt dystopia, for instance - may take it towards Orwellian archetypes, but let me assure you, merely by simply appearing, and in such an obviously antagonistic manner, this white haired dude is nothing like Big Brother or O'Brien.

This was a pretty good episode, and a slight improvement over the last, but, due to the lack of narrative momentum and character exploration, it hasn’t evoked considerable intrigue and enjoyment over the past two episodes. Thankfully, it seems that the strictly episodic nature that appeared to be it’s inevitable format will, at the very least, be temporarily discarded, since this seems to be a two-parter and, in the final moments of this episode, Shoga appeared; an antagonist that, more then likely, will be a recurring, significant threat as the story progresses.

This episode’s case was far more intriguing and engaging than the last. The bizarre opening, in which Akane, through a virtual world, seeks advice from Talisman, was excellently utilized as a means to establish the atmosphere for the remainder of the episode. I really liked Akane's brief, but insightful conversation with Masaoka, in which they discuss the darkness of Kogami's true self, ominously noted by Masaoka’s inference that if Akane attempts to truly understand him, her psycho-pass, as a result, would become just as high as his. The ending was definitely my favorite scene, as Sugawara, the classmate of Akane‘s that was also Spookie Boogie, was morbidly strangled and Shoga, a seemingly integral antagonist appears. The combination of these developments allowed for a suitably intriguing cliffhanger of sorts, since it concluded the episode on an especially unsettling note, as the sound and visualization of the blender slicing tomatoes leads brilliantly into the credits.

So far, there's been an unfortunate absence of considerable character development. I mean, the broader characterization is clearly evident and quite satisfying, but without proper development, several of these characters could definitely begin to feel a bit hollow and rather insignificant. Kogami easily remains the best character, as highlighted by the moment he casually explained the specifics involved in Hayama's murder. The momentary glimpses into his past, whether through a fleeting image or a brief conversation, are thoroughly interesting, so I'm really looking forward to the continued unraveling of the memories that perpetually haunt him. Even though I quite like Akane's character, the show is typically at it's best when it temporarily shifts to Kogami's perspective.

The production values were excellent throughout, particularly the background art, which was fantastic in it’s imaginative variety, as it illustrated the futuristic creativity found in the aesthetically contrasting CommuFields of the virtual world really well. The direction was also terrific, displayed most notably during the highly atmospheric final scene.

All in all, despite several flaws, Psycho-Pass continues to impress. I’m really looking forward to the progression of the narrative, and I'm particularly interested in the potential for further exploration into the inherent flaws within the Sibyl system. Hopefully, now that the primary antagonist has entered the story, a certain unease and unpredictably will filter through, since the show, as a whole, increasingly feels too restrained and the execution of the narrative occasionally falters due to this hindrance.

A rather interesting cyber crime patrol this episode. One thing I will quickly mention is the following spoiler
Poor girl. Is she even dead or KO? If help is not done in thee end, she will be decapitated into pieces. Sick shit really if it happens and with the tomatoes chances are it might less she is saved in time. Might edit later.

I can't help but laugh considering my cousin was joking with me
that Gen Urobuchi has a choke fetish with women. I told him eh...I think you're exaggerating.

Now four episodes into this and this is the second woman being suffocated. Not like I think it's a big deal, just thinking "oh man...again?!". Looks like the choke is becoming a Urobuchi staple, hopefully our cute heroine can keep her neck safe.

Now this episode is just plain weird. It took me a while to get used to cute jellyfish reporting alarm clocks, mascot holograms, and cute police bots... at least Tachikomas never looked this obnoxious. This episode is just full on exploding on weirdness. Seriously, I felt I was watching a sequel to Summer Wars or something. It felt kind of surprising seeing this kind of thing after having watched Episode 1 but at least it offered a unique setting especially appropriate after Halloween.

The episode itself was okay...though weird with all the varied avatars. I was happy to see the main villain finally make his appearance at least. I'm curious to see what this arc leads to.

In any case...can anyone pass the ketchup?
