Yes, I know there's a topic about this, but it's nine months old, when the game wasn't fully developed, and mostly consisted of butthurt MG diehards QQing about how it no longer takes you 20 minutes to sneak past two guards.

Moving on...

I personally think the new trailer looks quite badass, not to mention the E3 gameplay video/interview they released a while back. From the looks of it, it'll not only stay true(to an extent, of course) to the series' stealth theme, but it'll add an awesome new hack'n'slash component to the game. Oh, and you get to play as Raiden, who's a badass.

Is anyone else excited about this?

With that tone, it sounds to me that somebody didn't even like the MGS series to begin with.

this is coming from someone who is saying the biggest misconception about mgs so this guy is obviously full of shit

Do people seriously believe mgs has that many cut scenes? like really? Its like no where close and the 10+ min cut scenes tend to happen after long segments of gameplay or at the finale

It's normal to have one and it's nice to be proud of it. But for the love of god, don't pull it out in public and don't wave it in other's faces."

It kinda does have a LOT more cutscenes that most action games.

I personally thought that was something that added to the uniqueness of MGS. It was one of the first games to seriously immerse the player into the story of a video game imo. I honestly felt like I was a part of this huge espionage thriller saga when I played MGS.

I did too though, I never minded. It was obvious the director wanted the game to be very hollywood style instead of just a game. That was part of what differenced MGS when it came out, the blend of story and stealth. They went a "little" too far with the scenes in MGS4 though, when compared to their previous games (MGS3 for example)

Not quite.

I love the MGS series. Behind Final Fantasy, it's my favorite series of all time. In fact, in my opinion, it defined modern espionage games. But there's nothing wrong with change, especially when it looks like it may be for the better, which is far more than games such as Call of Duty can say, which is why it's a little irritating when people watch a trailer of a game they know isn't even close to being complete, and they say, "It doesn't look like it has exactly the same gameplay mechanics as the other ones, so it's automatically bad."

Um, not really. I've played all of them at least once, and a lot of time and effort is spent sneaking around enemies rather than charging in there guns blazing, which you would know if you've played them. So, you fail.

And yes, MGS has a lot of cutscenes, although that's not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination. As stated above, it really added to the feel of the game, especially in the earlier ones. It immersed you completely in the story, more than most games of its day could. I wouldn't say they went too far in 4, although they did have more.

I'm excited for Metal Gear Rising to come out, I don't see anything wrong with the game, sure it's not the same without Solid Snake but hey, what's wrong with change? I'm still excited for Rising to come out.

I'm pretty sure the Lightning Bolt was just them going for the obvious pun.

I'm friends with the manager at the local Gamestop around here. He told me a few weeks ago that he had already played the TGS demo at a recent employee convention sort of event. He had nothing but good things to say about it, he spoke very highly of the unique controls for the game. Like how when locked on, you control Raiden's arms separately with the two joysticks. I just saw the trailer and it looks to live up to how much he hyped it when we talked. xD LOOKS FANTASTIC~

I have a hard time taking anyone who works at Gamestop's opinion seriously.

Seems like wasted talent, but I'm sure the game will be fine.
