Unfortunately I see a lot of others who don't like it.. probably for lots of different reasons..a new anime which is in the 1000 + rank isn't a good sign and means there most likely wont be a season 2..

Why did I enjoy it? Well because I enjoy looking at the imagination of authors and see how far it can take me into a totally new world I have never seen before. Character development was also good, art was fine, and music was catchy.

I guess other people are looking for something to be more like the next code geass?

For those who think this anime is predictable write a simple yet solid description that what happens next. Not that he will win in the end, but who the enemies are and how he will beat them.

People dislike like it because.
1. Story ain't that great to begin with. They literally showed a bigger plot at the last 10 mins of episode, wtf?
2. Season 2 may or may not happen. How they did the ending was like opening a season 2.
3. Your common ecchi show.
4. Enemies are pretty straight forward, one being Hikami the student council president as his name is clearly shown in episode 12 speaking about some plot. Probably a few more people, one being Kaitou he has something to do with fighting against Hikami.

Also the T.V quality sucked hard.

I liked the series but the last episode made me feel as if the whole 12 episodes were nothing more than one big intro...

Enemies are actually rather vague.. There as vague as suzaku in code geass..one minute a friend, next a rival, next an enemy.. then back to being a friend..

As for common ecchi show.. It's actually rather uncommon.. just look at how thin the list of recommendations are..

The fantasy/other world setting is actually quite a rare setting in the anime world. Most common is the school setting and their variants, next most common is the "outside of school" setting, and their variants, then you have outer space..then maybe you have the fantasy world..

I wish there were more anime's of this type around..

I understand why ecchi anime turns off a lot of people.. I went through a time when I used to care what people knew I watched too.. and if an anime I wanted to watch showed boobs every so often I'd misplace my anger at the anime instead and think "why does it have to show boobs! It could be so much better if it didn't! I don't want people to think I'm watching porn!"

I like the mindless action and ecchi this show offers, but... that's about it.

The story didn't really bother me, but the execution of it was lame and boring.

Do I want a season 2? No.

Pro's -
Won't say original, but at least a new take to fantasy setting
Akutsuki being boss means no BS emo episodes

Cons -
Plot is minimal
Season ended with more questions then answers
Akutsuki is Gary Stu(and you know this)...only kids under 10 like Gary Stu's
The girls are annoying and Mui overplays damsel in distress in nearly every episode
Coming from a girl, a guy rubbing someones breasts does not make the situation ok

...whilst the last episode did leave an opening for a season 2, as I mentioned in episode discussion, unless they miraculously pop sales out of their asses I don't see this series going anywhere near a 2nd season..ofc i could be wrong

They don't need to. Something is bound to turn out pop out of a S2 of it. Maken-Ki and other animes despite getting low sales still manage a S2.

Also the MC being boss might stem a demand from it, although I did not see that since Bastard! Or Orphan.

Oh gods I hope S2 never happens.

The show had potential in the ideas and the fact that main is not typical "everyday wimp"....but the show itself ruined it all completely:

- Female "lead" is utterly boring and personality-less, being there for pure reason of sex-appeal for the target demographics.

- The lead male instead of being "useless wimp" ended up being a completely perfect-good-at-everything-he-does Gary Stu with no real flaws or weaknesses and that's just as infuriating as emo protagonists, if not more, since hey, with "emo" protagonist there's a chance he will develop into someone interesting as the show progresses...here? we have another horrible "character" like kira yamato.

- MISOGYNY AND SEXISM EVERYWHERE. Now I know that its ecchi show and its from japan and all, but oh gods, this has to have some of the most misogynistic writing styles EVER used in anime. All females are useless sex-appeal objects, sidelined to support or failure and only males can save the day? No thank you.

- Frankly the basic plot ideas are good, but all the superior story and character ideas are sidelined for some reason, so the inferior and mediocre ideas can take the front stage...

So no, no, no. I hope this never returns ever again. Its a miracle I survived those 12 episodes.

Dont worry different san , i m sure there will be season 2 and even 3 or more. U see because the 2nd half of the last episode was made with the view of 2nd season ,
My guess is season 2 will be completely focused on events in that other world - Alazzard , maybe they will keep it to 12 episodes or so [i feel it highly likely ] and season 3 will be on the events that occur when he returns again with his world, involving with that shadow group who is keeping watch on akatsuki . [Well i may be wrong in some things as i have not read the novel or manga but i have got this intuition that things may go this way ] So basically it will be just a wait of time until season 2 arrives :D

Akatsuki Ousawa became one of my favorite main characters of all time.

Miu on the other hand single handly ruined the whole show.

I do want a season 2 just to see my boi Akatsuki Ousawa.

With your amount watched I can trust this but IMO they might kill off Miyu and get Listy in. :D

That would be better IMO. Listy has so much promise when you see the focus on her in the second half of last episode.

So yeah PLEASE KILL MIYU IN S2! THANK YOU!

i don't really see that as a con. compared to a lot of shit out there who overuses the style of "wimpy fuck who suddenly gains power to prove his worth".
and yes, i'm talking about accel world, and i might not even say guilty crown, cause there was some sort of actual plot there.

akatsuki's overpowerdness has a reason. yet to be revealed completely, but slightly shown already. there is more to him than just him being a gary stu. and that's what makes him likeable. also, generalizations about kids that are about 10 years old are the only ones that like that type of character is just as good as saying how pre pubescent girls are the only ones that like mahou shoujos. and we know we all loved nanoha and madoka.

as for an s2. greatly welcome. estetica isn't really cut out to be 12 episodes anyways. the story can dig far deeper.

Gary Stu/Mary Sue type characters are NEVER a pro. It pretty much means that the writers failed to develop a character into a character.

There's nothing relatable or interesting about the MC of this anime. Why should anyone care about him or what he does? Why should we worry about him succeeding or failing, if he is so good at everything.

The show set off to create a "badass" main character, yet failed to develop him properly. ANd that is never a good thing.

Backbone means nothing if the main character is underdeveloped MR.Perfect, who has no flaws.(well technically he has a flaw - he is a misogynist asshole, but show refuses to acknowledge it).

What makes characters interesting is their flaws. Having someone who has none and succeeds at everything, takes away from any sort of enjoyment the narrative could provide. As it stands now, Akatsuki is just another Kira Yamato.

Akatsuki was out of the norm, that is why he's popular. The perfection made perfect sense because of WHY he was perfect. There was no struggle because he's already done that. He's already had his downs, already has done the level up. He BEAT the boss, he's beaten the game and returned. He IS one of the super leveled advanced players in RPGS who have max their stats.

I've been watching bitchmade leads for the past 10 years with only a few exceptions, so his Gary Stu was a PERFECT cleanse of the past years.

And for christ sakes, Its just a fictional piece of work, no need to get bent out of shape about how fictional female characters are being treated. IF that was the case, rape themed porn would never exist, its just a fetish out of all the many fetishes in the world. And by the way, WOMEN have ruled the anime world for years now, it always has and always WILL be a female dominant niche, so I have NO problem with a guy actually doing all the badass work for once in this genre.

I never understand how people want to complain and complain, yet kept watching it all the way through. You've done nothing but waste your time, and built up negative towards the series. Its not even that serious, just move on to something more for you.

This show was so refreshing. Kick ass main character who did whatever the fuk he wanted. Im tired of banging my head against a wall as emo MC's spend a whole episode debating over what they should/shouldnt do. Much funner to just watch Akatsuki do whatever the hell he pleases and kick ass while doing it. But ive read that japanese viewers dont like alpha male leads, so that could be a reason for the show's low ratings

Kananipa said:

Akatsuki was unrealistic. There was no back-story to him to tell us why he's so confident and good at whatever he does, therefore all I could do was roll my eyes at how he's so "perfect", and every scene where he was fighting I just laid back in my chair and knew he was going to come out victorious with almost no scratches. Pure boringness.

You have a point about lack of background story, which can be fixed with 2nd season and whole " winning hands down" thing without scratches is pretty boring ,but knowing that MC gonna win... it's almost like a rule in animes like this.

As for your post, no need to be butt-hurt, some people watch a series in hopes that the show may get better. Some like myself, are completist and do not like to drop a show midway. Live with the fact that there are people out there who have different opinions to you.

Akutsuki may be OP compared to the rest of them harem male leads you get in other anime, but considering he has showed no character apart from being the guy who solves everything by fondling women's breast and mowing his adversaries like they were yesterdays news without breaking a sweat is kind of bland and poor direction/writing in the authors part.

So you've been watching bitch ass leads for the last 10yrs, congratulations, that makes you 11? I thought by now you'd at least have grown to appreciate good writing and character development.

Should say the same for yourself. I never said anyone couldn't have negative opinions, yet at the same time, no need to put someone down cause THEY liked it. Follow your same advise, and try not insulting people cause they liked something you didn't. Cause I liked a certain aspect you might now, that decides someones age? Wow.

If you don't like a show fine, but no need to hope something doesn't get a sequel cause YOU didn't like it, and that's why I addressed Fai in the first place. Why would you want to rob the fans of a potential sequel if they liked it?

I feel as if I should point out the character development people are saying is non existent..As to why I can notice this might partially be that I'm aspiring to be a script writer..Though my english grades were nothing more than average.

Akatsuki develops slowly as a character. On the surface he is a young extremely strong male who has a sexsomnia problem, and an over active libido. But what was slowly developed that he has strong sense of justice. Not any justice, but his own justice. He is called the rogue hero not only because of sexual harassment tendencies. But because he does what he thinks is right and does not follow any political gains. He masks his emotions through his jokes, but shows them through his actions. His past is a bit mystified, but he had the option of learning the height of martial arts only by giving up on ever using magic. While now it is still unknown what is stronger magic or martial arts.

Myuu is demon king's daughter, not much is known about her. She is a sheltered girl who has never had any friends and Akatsuki has made it a goal of his to show her the world and give her a normal life of a human girl. She believes she should hold a grudge against Akatsuki for killing her father but she is conflicted because of her feelings for Akatsuki. Since coming to earth she has thrown away her old world and heir to the demon throne, and wishes to continue living like a normal human. She is forced to be scapegoat in the politics of her old world, and is told to give up her life to save her new friends and to save her people from the demon clan. She is torn between giving up her old life and making a brand new one. She has a lot to develop as a character but only because she wasn't much of a character to begin with. Any sheltered princess cannot be much more than a sheltered princess but she is slowly growing and making a new life while accepting her old one.

i despise people who make assumptions based on nothing but bad thinking. especially coming from someone who thinks she can discriminate based on likes and dislikes.

first of all. you keep referring to this age based personality and thought process. in question of what makes you think like this, i took a visit to your profile. you have not lived long enough to possibly know what adults are like. unless you are a troll. which makes you even worse in a discussion board. in any cases, it's not like 10 year old kids would say that stuff, but it's because you likely were like that, or still are, that you can say this kind of stuff. i know some pretty neat 10 year olders who could probably argue better than you.

second. i don't see any butt-hurt post, not from tenchi anyways. his comment is just as valid as yours. it's a discussion board, you know. press your ideas and support them. and try to prove the other wrong. that's what a discussion should be based about. voice your thoughts. i'm sure he's living with the fact that people have different opinions, maybe he hasn't learned that through the internet, you can't make dumb people change their minds. still doesn't mean he's grinding his face against a wall because of you.

in fact, you're also very wrong here. and it just goes to show how biased you are towards ecchi shows. akatsuki as a male lead, in this season anyways, may have come off as a weak personality. but at no point was it said that all he did was use brute strength. he has intellect, reasoning, and like someone else posted, a sense of justice. if you can't read into it, and keep thinking that a story could really be carried through the use of a bland character, get a reality check. the story isn't suited for you, and if you just completely dislike it, then carry on, and let the people who actually enjoy reading into characters, and try to figure them out do, actually do what they like.

what i'm saying is. you're shallow for thinking that. it matters whether you're the type of person to read between the lines. since that's what some ways of storytelling are. they are not going to give you all of the answers. heck, they might just give you a clusterfuck of ideas. a psycho, or a bland character. doesn't mean that that's all there is to them. the show clearly tried to tell us that. maybe hinting that it all has a direction it's moving in. either way. don't blame the writing or direction if you yourself can't look at it from every angle, or even look for something. once again, reality check. you are not going to get everything served on a plate.

lastly, and it pains me the most, since you are pretty much insulting yourself here. how in all hell can you go from an argument saying that someone's been watching bichty male leads for 10 years possibly make you say that he is 11? if you're going to try to insult someone by faulty changing his age, do it in a clever way. that way, people MIGHT actually think you're on the right. and using your own words, live with the fact that people have different opinions. you are not the judge who decides what's good writing and character development. you might just be shallow enough to not understand it yourself. so i'd say, you should wait and grow up before talking about how someone should act as a grown up. if you don't show some traits, don't go accusing of others of not having them.

*sigh*

I used to be pretty good at this but I been slipping lately.. anyways tokumi sounds to be around a 18 year old male, while richard is about 20. Could be off by about year depending how close your birthday is/was.

In most if not all of females I met they are all at least a bit flirty in their manner of written speech males are more aggressive. Even the ones pretending to be androgynous. Changes in thought also occur as you get older, the younger you are the more pure/stupid you are, no matter how much you go to 4chan. (I remember/seen pictures I used to be happy and smile a lot when I was 8, didn't hide from camera then either) The older you get after 18 the less you start to care about life in general and less things "offend" you. Anyways it's my gut that tells me my brain just thinks about it after my gut told me.

You could add "Animation is crappy just like those of a hentai's".

But I actually enjoyed this :D

Honestly, I think I'll just read the original novels. Eventually. Once I learn Japanese.

he does care a fair bit actually. He just intentionally pisses the girl off as a way to distract her and provide comedy. Fairly human with some 'archtypical' emotions. I've seen far worse... *cough* ichigo *cough*

As for echi? besides the occasional panty flash and the truly epic sized breasts of the main character. There really wasn't a heck of a lot... Comparatively.

The whole tear mechanic was interesting, as was the focus on chi and pressure points as a fighting style. i'd watch a second or third season, buy it though? It's rewatch value is practically non-existent.

Now something like Hajime no Ippo, or a Ghibli, or FMA, or or or.

High School DxD is getting a second season and that has a repetitive plot set up at least in this one there is some sort of grander plot. I think that if given a chance of a second season and they actually foucus on plot a little more that the harem factor then this might have a chance to turn sales around..........maybey. I just dont like unfinished stories but I guess ill have to read the ligh novel

Akutsuki is Gary Stu(and you know this)...only kids under 10 like Gary Stu's

*sigh*

i don't really see that as a con. compared to a lot of shit out there who overuses the style of "wimpy fuck who suddenly gains power to prove his worth".
and yes, i'm talking about accel world, and i might not even say guilty crown, cause there was some sort of actual plot there.

akatsuki's overpowerdness has a reason. yet to be revealed completely, but slightly shown already. there is more to him than just him being a gary stu. and that's what makes him likeable. also, generalizations about kids that are about 10 years old are the only ones that like that type of character is just as good as saying how pre pubescent girls are the only ones that like mahou shoujos. and we know we all loved nanoha and madoka.

as for an s2. greatly welcome. estetica isn't really cut out to be 12 episodes anyways. the story can dig far deeper.

Keep enjoying your pussy bitch normal Harem MCs then. If anything, most grown ass men I know LOVED a MC like Akatsuki, who actually has a backbone and just don't give a fuck.

You make it sound like I'm the one that attacked you. If you start from page 1 and read my first post, as I mentioned; I said they might not do a season 2 purely on sales alone. I also said I could be wrong....BUT, how many series out there are we still waiting for a season 2 that is purely a cut above this series? I'm pretty sure you can name some. Ahh, let's see: Legend of the Legendary Heroes, Deadman Wonderland, Berserk(although we've only just started to get an OVA recently after how many years), Kenichi, Claymore...list goes on. If you would like me to apologize about calling you 10yr old, consider this post as so, but that doesn't change the fact that you still act like my little brother who jumps around everytime his favorite superhero is on TV. So Akatsuki is OP, I think we got that from the many rave reviews and discussion threads for this series, no need to keep pointing it out.

Can I yawn now? For a minute there I thought I was back in class and was given a report on how badly I'd done on my thesis to relativity. So tell me, did it feel good? I mean writing all that, because you my friend deserve a prize and guess what it is? You get to replace the director of this series 'coz your half page essay was more exciting than the 20+ minute episode that I sat through of that final episode...and well done Sherlock Holmes, after sleuthing through my profile you found out I was trolling...

..this space under construction...
