THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So.. what did you guys think of this? I thought this was pretty good for like 5 minutes and it didn't bore me at all. I liked the narration and how Chobi's life was. Modified by Kineta, 11-23-12, 9:02 AM HEY! |

I find it a really beautiful piece of animation. Short but to the point and very well made. ![]() |

I liked it. This was the best short anime I've ever watched. The way Makoto Shinkai shows the day-to-day life of a cat is really good =) |

The OVA left a symbolic message even though its short. I liked it a lot, and it was pretty funny. |

Even though this was perhaps the tenth time I've seen this beautiful piece of art, I still feel shut down... I felt like the Cat when he couldn't help her when she was so desperately in need for help. |

I loved it and I think the running time was just right. All that needed to be said or shown was said and shown. very emotional piece of animation. |

I don't know why but things like this really touch me and I nearly shed tears watching this. It was short simple but really beautiful. |

How in the world do people think this is a 9 or 10/10? This is such an average short. It's a cat narrating and the art is really crude as if the producer took only a few minutes to animate all of it. 5/10 |

The art serves its purpose. My thoughts: This is simply the best animated short that I have ever seen, Japanese or otherwise. I was moved nearly to tears, especially by the last 'section' (She and Her Cat). |

I don't think the age has anything to do with the art in this. It's a very simple story so I think Shinkai just wanted simple art to match the feel. When I was watching this I couldn't help but recall a short avant-garde film from the 60s by Donald Richie which was called Boy with Cat. I'd be curious to know if it served as some sort of inspiration for Makoto Shinkai. |

This is a very nice short. People need to appreciate things for what they are, not for what they were hoping it would be. |
