When he was still black, I liked his music. The lighter he got, the weirder his songs became (and closer to sounding like Diana Ross in his 'hihihi' adlibs). Unfortunately, the whiter and older he got, the stranger his lifestyle became. While the appreciation for his early music is still there for me, I do not admire the man at all. At the end of his life and the way he went out of this world...bah. |

Basically the only positive thing that I can say about him is that he helped record companies make a lot of money, but his music itself was incredibly derivative, and needless to say, I found it be quite boring. He had a massive influence on music as a business, but as far as music as an art goes, I think he actually did harm. I think by harm you mean influencing Justin Bieber. In a way, yes. I find Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber to be incredibly similar. There are many that paved the way for Michael Jackson such as those in the Brill Building and the various girl groups and such created by record companies in the 60's and 70's, but Michael Jackson was really the epitome of success for manufactured music. Especially with the surge of indie music that has been happened with the increase in technology over the past 20 years, the big four are desperate for another Michael Jackson, and people like Justin Bieber are attempts are attempts to do just that. I put both of them along with the various people created by Dinsey into the exact same category. People like Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber symbolize everything that is wrong with pop music in my opinion. They are "musicians" who's purpose is to make money not music. Well, there is my truncated rant. I don't feel like arguing right now, but those are my basic thoughts on Michael Jackson and the like. ^^ See people? this is one example of a hater. Michael Jackson had no part of disney. If your talking about the "manufactured" artist you speak of its Justin. Not Michael! “Everyone is fake. The world’s filled with these people. People only cared about him after he died. Just like Kurt Cobain: nothing special I'm not sure if you're trolling or just a moron... ![]() But in all honesty, he really wasn't that great. - Says his music blew ass - Says he was never that important - Claims it was a joke that flew by our heads and that he wasn't great after getting burned. Yea, I think you really are a moron. Sounds like a hypocrite to me “Everyone is fake. The world’s filled with these people. You didn't understand anything that I said did you? I did not say that Michael Jackson had anything to do with Disney directly. I said that Michael Jackson paved the way for companies like Disney to do what they are doing with their music now. I guess the who thing about the Brill Building went completely over your head, huh? The Brill Building consisted of various song writers and studio musicians who wrote and recorded music for other people. Michael Jackson was indeed part of the manufactured music that I speak of. Pretty much every single song off of Michael Jackson's first 4 albums or so were not actually written by him. Later in his career he did indeed begin writing some of his songs, though his albums still contained songs such as Thriller and Man in the Mirror that were not written by him, and even the ones that he did write, had large amounts of influence from producers and studio musicians. There was a good amount of success doing exactly the same thing in earlier years (the Brill Building made a lot of money too), but with Michael Jackson, they were able to finally get it right financially and make massive amounts of money. Basically what I am trying to say is that Michael Jackson was easily one of the most influential people on music as a business, but I can't see that he really made much of an impact on music as an art. He had nothing to do with Disney and people like Justin Bieber, but he paved the way for such music to exist. Modified by Kyzix, 08-31-12, 4:39 PM 私のホバークラフトは鰻でいっぱいです |

watching this thread evolve slowly, and rethinking an answer. no. 1 - it's spelled "Disney". Sorry but its bugging me out no. 2 - does anyone REALLY doubt he was a child molester?? yes, i stated i liked his music when i was a kid - about Billy Jean/Beat It time period, but those were innocent times. He may have been a victim of insanely huge fame at a young age, as well as a crazy-ass family, but that doesn't dismiss the overwhelming evidence he abused children. |

I don't like his music but I can safely say that he was a big part of the music industry that got it going, if it weren't for him then my favorite bands and artists probably wouldn't be here today. So I appreciate him for that. |

I've been listening to his music since before i was even in kindergarten. My mom was a fan a had a ton of his music. I remember when i was young i used to listen Christmas songs of him as a kid. Back when Christmas used to be fun putting up the tree with decorations etc. he's got skillz and moves to match his music as well. ![]() |

Have you ever spoken to Michael? No so how would you know if he really did abuse children or not? “Everyone is fake. The world’s filled with these people.
