This is really an exciting and profound episode , an empire rising and soon declining , the situation is perfectly correspond to the "ED" .
Isn't it a miniature process of the development course of humanity?

yes! thats what i thought, besides their nation getting destroyed, luckily that hasn't happend to us yet :)

Well we're well on our way to topping anything we did in the past by destroying an entire planet. What with the decaying of the ozone layer and the rapid depletion of our natural resources such as minerals, grasslands, wildlife and aquatic species.

I was afraid this show wouldn't be able to return the amazing quality that was the first two episodes. It was still entertaining, but the social commentary, storyline and events just weren't as interesting
This episode COMPLETELY changed my opinion. That was so fucking fun to watch. Just Watashi being Watashi, fairies being fairies, with the great art style that is so fun to watch

Definitely one of the best shows of the season

Hey boy! LOL

Oh the trappings of civilized living, I guess there are too many things we really take for granted just because we've grown accustomed to it.

Woah from simple survival to governance, the environmental impacts of progress(she might be indirectly responsible for wiping the three indigenous spider species Grandpa was talking about in the end), population explosion, social decay through vanity and apathy. It's like watching Imperial Rome's "bread and circuses" with the literal and out-of-context "Let them eat cake"-thing and then finally Plato's Atlantis. XD

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita Episode 9: The History of the Rise, Decline and Fall of the Fairy Fail Nation by Watasahi. >_<

Honestly, this episode is on par with the 1st arc... just incredible!

The social commentary on humans/civilization is SPOT ON. There was over use of the earth, invention of religion, narcotics, and indoor plumbing (...to name a few). This episode brought me back to the genius that is this show.

Well done.

This episode was just awesome. The rise and fall of a civilization in just 14 days. Haha the fairies were all so cute to watch and their carefree selves was shown off nicely. Watashi acting like a queen was great too.

I didn't really care for this episode all that much. Probably because it reminded me of the incredible Beard episode from Dennou Coil, only not as good. Still, it was a pretty cool idea.

Likely the best episode, perhaps better than the first few. I was worried that this show would continue to stale, especially after the robot arc and the perhaps even more mundane Endless Eight-esque arc. Thankfully at least, the EE-like arc resolved itself and brought some much needed characterization through its conclusion. In contrast, I just loved this entire episode from each second.

In my opinion, I would rank the arcs so far as:
E09, E01-02 > E03-04 >> (stales from here) E05-06, E07-08.

Fairies are pretty ideal as far as civilization goes. There's no social classes apparently (and even if there were nobody seemed concerned about social mobility). Food is freely distributed by the ruling monarch so this appears to be a communist society as well. However, due to the complete absence of social classes, this society was pretty utopic and ended only due to the depletion of natural resources. In a real human society there always had been social classes and a desire for social mobility. As interesting as this episode is, it's not anywhere close to being a legitimate critique of human society, but definitely an enjoyable episode nonetheless

Holy crap, I can't even begin to describe the awesomeness of this episode. So much to be said about how civilization goes ... starting with the basics then spiraling out of control and then collapsing ... history in a nutshell, wouldn't you say? :P
Queen Watashi ... making sweets and stuff all day! Crazy how they got electricity and everything ... oh my :O The fairies are adorable though XD Eventually it all has to come to an end ... no more trees ... sounds familiar D: Then they get all depressed and it leads to a massive rainstorm ... AND THEN IT ALL FLOODS OVER?! O_O She gets found by her grandpa and assistant ... lulz :P Too bad she has to "clean things up" ... we haven't been doing that so well IRL D;
What she was saying about just cutting loose and going somewhere else to start this all over again ... well, that certainly sounds like what's happened over the years! :O
First one-episode arc IIRC ... wonder what's up next? :O

All honor is a source of joy and duties, in summary, the juice of the episode. I thought that the plot was again a source of bizarre and inexplicable events, but this has not happened, too linear.
Dialogues always epic and strong impact in terms of comedy, but I would call it more sarcasm.
Watashi is one of the most charismatic female characters!

Oh I see. So that's how Jintai is, eh? I was sensing some satirical undertones ever since the chicken shit, and now it makes sense when you inter-relate this ep and the first ep/s/arc.

Christening.

Know what? Fuck it. Dropped. Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita may be appealing for its allegorical style of the real world and history, but that's exactly it.

Why the hell am I watching an anime showing the problems of the world

I don't get what else there is to like about it. Watashi's personality doesn't help either. No one's does.

Fuck you Kishi Seiji

Tentai Senshi Sunred's the ONLY good thing you directed.

As I'm currently rewatching the series I can't help but think that this episode is beyond brilliant. So many great references, remarks to the real world. And afterall, it also explained the setting of the series itself. The fairies are such a brilliant satirical depiction of the human race.

I think many people are missing the beauty of this episode.

This is essentially the story of Easter Island which is largely considered the historical metaphor for humanity as a whole... i.e. Earth = Easter Island

We watch this and laugh at how obnoxious the fairies can be while we're blindly doing, essentially, the exact same thing.

This could very likely be one of the best episode's of anime I've seen.

I honestly don't really get why people love this episode so much. I thought it was good and hammers home that this show is actually a social satire instead of a comedy, but not incredibly amazing. At least, I won't agree that this is the Best Episode of Anime Ever because this one, although funny, wasn't 'crying, choking, can't breathe, sides hurt, might vomit, losing oxygen' funny which other shows have managed to do to me. I do agree with another user here. That Beard episode from Dennou Coil was much better. Similar content and themes as this, but nothing can top "YASAKO IS DEAD".

Also, I just want to point out something. It feels to me that this episode ended at a very heartwarming note. The ending credits sequence had Watashi interacting with her Grandpa and noting to herself that "The last time Grandpa hit me was before I left for school",a surprisingly personal remark, before stating that she has returned to her old everyday life. This feels to me completely out of left field and unrelated to the rest of the episode before it. Sure, one can say that it symbolizes the hope that still exists for man when a civilization falls, however other than that, it's just so random. It's similar to back in the Pioneer/Voyager arc wherein the latter half of the second episode was startlingly dramatic. It feels like this show is trying to hammer in this heartwarming tone to go along with its sarcasm, and while I feel that it does sometimes succeed in doing so (The Time Paradogs Arc really enriched The Assistant's character), it often ends up feeling random and inconsistent.
